It’s a newer hotel and it shows! Attention to detail, amenities, and design are all 10/10. The lobby is calm, comfortable, and relaxing with complimentary espressos and lattes from an automated machine, pretty tasty too. The rooms are spacious, well designed, and extremely comfortable! Excellent cozy beds and a wonderfully roomy and powerful rain shower.

This was extraordinary! After 2 weeks of traveling Japan with our two kids and stopping at hotels, this house was our opportunity to get embedded into "real" Japanese life - doing groceries, some cooking, etc. We loved the experience, and the house is just fabulous - spacious, beautiful, with all infrastructure you need. We can highly recommend this place for families!

My husband declared our room at Taikourou the nicest we had in Japan. It was comfortable , in traditional style ( but with mattresses on raised platforms) , filled with light and fresh air , with a wonderful view of the park and swing bridge. Having a couple of comfortable chairs to sit and take in the view was wonderful. Dinners at this ryokan were wonderful and used seasonal ingredients. We love the experience of these traditional meals. There was also a lovely onsen - small but then I did have it to myself so no problem. I can’t end this review without mentioning the staff who were so kind and helpful. There was one woman in particular who went out of her way to help us understand the meals, ensured we had everything we needed and just generally she was so positive in our interactions.

I stayed here with 3 other friends because we wanted a private room instead of staying at a hostel, and it was the perfect amount of space for us. We enjoyed playing cards and lounging on the tatami "living" room area (It was two planks with tatami flooring that we could sit on). It was also super clean and when I had trouble with self check-in on the iPad the host was super quick to respond. It was also a little bit away from Amanohashidate, so a quieter area!!
