The house is very well designed, decorated and maintained. Futaba-san is very accommodating and kind. He has extended his hospitality from the moment we booked the accommodation till the day we left, and always so courteous.

We stayed in Koujiya and loved it.. Beautifully appointed rooms, incredible staff, lovely small daily treats. Great transport connection to Kyoto station put everything in our reach while allowing us to step out of the hustle and bustle.

This place had amazing food, service, and atmosphere. While the private bath was under renovation when I went, the onsen let me know of it asap and even gave additional accommodation elsewhere. The food was AMAZING! I would love to go back!!

I spent an absolutely perfect rainy weekend here in July. The machiya is beautiful, full of character, and ever so peaceful. So when a torrential rainstorm rolled in, I was very happy to have an excuse to stay indoors and soak up the beauty and atmosphere here. I had a large tatami room with enclosed balcony and a sitting room, and wish I could just move in! Delicious breakfast that kept me going until dinner time. If you’re looking for a taste of traditional, historic Japan with all the mod cons, this is the place to stay!

Excellent ryokan stay near Lake Biwa! We had a private bath in our room which was lovely, and the room itself was spacious with a separate dining area which was very convenient. Provided toiletries were high quality and the ameneties bar was well-stocked. Staff were friendly and adept at using translation apps to speak with us as necessary. Whole area was quiet and overall a wonderful night spent.

The staff were so incredibly helpful and friendly. Almost felt like royalty every time we arrived in the lobby.
The restaurant provided not just a meal, but an experience.
We stayed in a room with a private Onsen and it was such a joy to just dunk in sporadically through the day.

One of the best places we have stayed in Japan. This place was mostly out of reach from the hustle and bustle of Kyoto, yet close enough to many other overlooked attractions. The space was very well taken care of, and our hosts had top-notch hospitality. Special thanks to Sachiko-San who took the extra effort to speak with us in English and made us feel at home. Next time we might want to stay here longer to embrace the peace and tranquility of Otsu.

Very clean and comfortable to stay. They provide various amenities including pajamas and moisturiser cream, that may be common in accommodations in Japan but I didn’t expect they would provide it in a capsule hotel. The staff are really friendly and helpful. They would tell you good places to visit in Shiga prefecture.
The breakfast was good and definitely worth the price.

I loved everything about Yumotokan. It was my 2nd time staying at their accomodation.
Everyone is friendly, the staff were very professional and welcoming. They treat you very well, take care of you as if you were a king/queen. I really do appreciate all the staff there who made my 2nd visit welcoming & fun! The onsens were beautiful & relaxing. Food prepared by chef tasted so fresh & delicious. Rooms are huge & very japanese traditional style.
I would definately come back in the future.

The accommodation has a modern and cozy furnishing located directly at the train station. So commuting is so easy, also it’s a ten minute walk to the Lake and the concert house.
I loved the various extras for ones own usage like Slippers, Pyjamas, toothbrushes combs and towels- so even if you forget something they got you covered. Also the staff is very friendly and very welcoming, they helped me a lot and were always open for questions. I highly recommend staying here!
