They have arranged free sake and green tea. Very nice!

All the staff, both at the front office and breakfast area, were very friendly and professional. Love how we were be able to choose our preferred yukata and that was fun!

Very spacious and nice room. Onsen was great. You can book the private onsen for 50 min with no extra charge. Very nice and helpful staff. Food was great. My husband can’t eat fish or seafood and they went out of their way to accommodate that. Close to famous Nyuto Onsen. Bus stop is just out front. Would still recommend your own transportation.

The hotel was very comfortable and the staff were really friendly and accommodating. I had dietary needs which they had no problem in changing the set menu for me. Their food was really tasty. The onsen pools were quite small but I appreciated the large sauna and cold water plunge. I would really recommend this hotel.

The food was good, both breakfast and dinner. Also relatively cheap. The location was fantastic! The room was much bigger than anticipated, beds were really comfortable, and the bathroom was great.

Location, beautiful scenery of the mountains and the lake. Food was excellent and prepared with great care and love, maybe a bit too much food. Love the dog, the owner doesn’t speak English but is very kind.

Very easy access from Kakunodate Station (walk directly up approximately 400-500 metres). Nice and quiet.

Really friendly hostess whose English probably the best among Japanese. Nice bed. Well, since the bath room is in the side house, little bit hard to take a shower. Still a perfect experience.

I thought the hotel was quite quirky and really liked that it was a re purposed hospital. The staff are very warm and welcoming . The simple but excellent free breakfast was very comforting . I appreciated that there’s a common room to hang out it in , as the rooms are of quite a modest size but were fine for my needs . The room was clean and I was happy with my en suite shower room .

Excellent onsen hotel. Great amenities and the large bath is open throughout the night (3pm to 6:30am). Great breakfast.

Beautiful location and wonderful hosts. If you stay extra then great to have the home prepared meal which was amazing. Hosts were always ready to help and support.

Good sized room, amazing staff, good food and onsen was great. Especially liked that they had an option to pay for daypass access to other onsens in the area + shuttle bus transportation so you can experience them all without needing to stay at all the different ryokans. They also offer to loan you towels, warm winter jackets and rubber boots when visiting the other onsens. This was a godsend for us it gets windy and the snow can be pile up quickly during a storm (it was up to my calves when we were there)

It’s difficult to put into words how special this place is. I arrived during a heavy snowfall, which made the entire experience feel almost dreamlike. Sitting in the onsen while watching the snow fall silently around the mountains was one of the most peaceful and memorable moments of my trip to Japan. The atmosphere here feels wonderfully authentic and deeply connected to its surroundings. I was one of the very few international guests during my stay, and although there was a language barrier at times, the staff were incredibly kind and welcoming. They went out of their way to ensure I felt comfortable and looked after, which made the experience feel even more genuine and heartfelt. The food was exceptional — beautifully presented and delicious, with each course feeling like part of a carefully considered experience rather than simply a meal. My room, which had its own private onsen, was both elegant and incredibly peaceful. Being able to sit in the warm water while watching the snow fall gently outside was something I will never forget. This was easily one of the most memorable places I have ever stayed. I would love to return one day in a different season, as I imagine it must be equally magical in spring, summer or autumn — just in a completely different way.
