The hotel is in an exceptional location, within easy walking distance of Muro-ji Temple, which gives the stay a rare feeling of peace and seclusion. There are many beautiful routes nearby for walks and hiking through the forest, and places like the Art Forest are also easy to explore. Even without a car, you can still do a lot: with a bit of planning around the timetable, it’s possible to take the bus to a nearby town/village and come back the same day. The rooms are truly stunning — traditional Japanese style with beautiful details, very calm and atmospheric. A special thank you to the host: he personally prepared a traditional dinner for us, and it became one of the highlights of our trip. He was exceptionally kind, attentive, and helpful. We were traveling without a car, and he even drove us to the store a few times, which we really appreciated.

Quite, amazing scenery and fantastic host. The room is cosy, spacious and you could smell the herb from our room. The herbal soak in the tub was very relaxing. Kade , fluent in English whom was hosting us upon our arrival is excellent. He explained every detail of the food ingredients, the health benefit and type of herbs used in our dinner meal. The chef is an excellent cook. The dinner was delicious and palatable. The lady host took us around the trail walks and set up a hammock in the forestry. The view from the hammock overlooking at the tall majestic trees and foliage were really spectacular. My spouse, daughter and myself truly enjoyed our one night stay.

This property is a real gem. The quiet simplicity of this beautifully located traditional Japanese house is hard to overstate. The wonderful breakfast before the open sliding doors looking out over the lovingly tended garden with the mountains as backdrop will remain unforgettable. Yuki-San is a delightful host, both warm and open and discrete at the same time. Easy to reach by train from Kyoto and close to the beautiful Akame waterfalls. Highly recommended!

Lovely authentic house where an older Japanese couple are essentially letting you share their house. The hosts are very happy to engage and tell about their experiences in Japan. Albeit, they do not speak much English.

View at breakfast and the breakfast itself was lovely. The onsen downstairs was also very nice and open late. Guests get complementary cup noodles, manju, yakult milk, icy pole, drinks. The dryer and washing machine were also convenient (though keep handy your 100 yen coins) and the vending machines were nice. Staff made a real effort to make us feel comfortable despite the language barrier. Though the property is dated and a bit of a hike from the station it was well worthy of the visit especially for the price.

We had a great time staying here. It is large, and has a separate dining room and huge kitchen, plus very comfortable bedrooms. The bathroom is great, and the toilet is in its own room. We definitely recommend this: it’s very close to the train and bus station, and there’s a lovely bakery across the road.
