Hotel Premium Chaves - Aquae Flaviae
We like everything about this hotel, it's the reason we keep going back, we are there again in three weeks. All the staff are extremely welcoming, I'd like to mention the older gentleman in the dining room, he remembers your name and the last time we stayed he was looking after a lady unable to walk well, he went to collect her breakfast requirements and kept an eye on her, asking if she needed anything else. Lovely to see !

It is a beautiful, historical property and is lovingly and exceptionally maintained. It is an exceptional mix of history with all modern amenities. It is only a 5 minute walk to the center of the town. The breakfast was of very good quality, a vast spread. Overall, a wonderful experience.

I enjoyed an exceptional two-night stay at Quinta da Mata before heading on a road trip down the historic N2 highway. I was traveling with my small dog Millie, which is the main reason I chose this accommodation, but it was more than just dog-friendly. There are beautiful grounds to explore around the farm, a lovely pool and terrace, and a great comfortable bedroom in the old stone house. Though I hadn’t planned on it, I had dinner both nights there. The food was excellent and plentiful. I had enough leftovers each time to take for a picnic lunch the next day. Senhor Luis was very welcoming, and gave excellent suggestions about places to visit both in Chaves for my one day there, and for stops along the highway. I look forward to visiting again either on my own again or with friends.
For the price it was impeccable!
The host was extremely friendly and met us on arrival. We greatly appreciated that she provided us with some delicious fruit and drinks as well as some ice-cream! This is a perfectly situated apartment on the river. There was a Festival of Marching Bands at the time we were staying there, which started on the bridge right next to the apartment - we truly felt part of the experience, and it was wonderful! The apartment was very clean and beautifully decorated. We will definitely stay there again.

Peaceful, warm welcome, spacious and well equipped.
Absolutely stunning property carved into the rock face overlooking Chaves. Our room was sublime, every tiny detail considered. Super comfy bed & linens, amazing bathroom, wonderful lighting, excellent climate control & blackout blind, incredible view from inside room & private terrace. The peace & quiet. The abundance of nature growing everywhere on the property, picking an apple & berries right outside the door! Delicious breakfast in another beautiful building with amazing views. Lovely staff & it was special meeting Lino the owner & being shown around by him, his love of the area and local materials being used for the on-going building of his passion project. His enthusiasm was so infectious, no wonder this property is so beautiful. We will certainly be returning to see how this stunning property continues to develop.
Most rooms are spatious, not fancy but everything functional, tidy, and clean. Windows have the traditional exterior plastic drapes that are the perfect blinds if you wish to have a dark room even during the day. There’s a vending machine in the corridor with hot and cold at economical prices. The hotel has free private parking, something you wouldn’t find in those located in the centre. So, although it’s not a design hotel or anything near it, this hotel is perfectly suited for any peaceful stay.
