Mukwa River Lodge is a piece of heaven in Zambia. The property is so beautifully decorated you feel you are in a magical place. I was lucky to receive an upgrade and have to say that my room was bigger than my house in CA. I felt like a true queen. There was a mini bar, outdoor shower, plunge pool, and even fresh ice brought in twice a day by the staff. I have done many safari trips in Africa and have to say that Mukwa is def my favorite of all!!

The chef is amazing! The quality of food is good. The chef was very happy to make customizations for me that I really appreciated. This property does the Western colonial style menu often featured at safari lodges - they do it well, but I am not a fan so much of this approach to menu design.

What I liked: Exceptional Host: Mr. Gift was incredibly helpful. He picked us up from the bus station, provided transport during our week-long stay, and managed all our activities (Zambezi sunset cruise, Victoria Falls tour, and the reptile park). Bedroom Comfort: Both bedrooms are well-equipped with fans and mosquito nets, which made for very comfortable nights. Cleanliness & Utilities: The 2-bedroom apartment was spotless. We had consistent warm water (with a booster pump for pressure) and the solar backup power was a lifesaver. Safety: The property is in a fenced area and felt very secure for our family during our Christmas holiday.
