A fully renovated former communist-era hotel on the slopes of Vitosha mountain. Quite close to Sofia, highway until ca. 10km to the location, with a good local road. Clean air, total stillness in the evening, friendly staff, a huge room with the usual amenities. A nice restaurant with some fancy options as well (e.g. vegan and vegetarian). A "half-sized" swimming pool, yet swimmable (there was no one around for the one night my family and I were there), quite warm, with lots of "equipment" around (e.g. swimming masks for kids), towels, a few beach-style beds. A Turkish spa next to the pool, fully operational. Additional offers at commercial rates (massage, a "Russian spa", whatever exactly that is :). Also a small fitness room (the usual - two gladiators, a bench, and a few barbells and dumbbells, there must have been a bike or treadmill, can't exactly remember), along with a table for pingpong. In the reception, several pools and table soccer. The receptionist did not want to charge us as there was no one on the particular day, but they charge most activities, e.g. pingpong 5 BGN for a half hour, etc. There is also a small "children's area" with dolls, toys and the like in the reception. A few nice tracks to walk in the woods around the place, plus a monastery within a ten-minute walk.

I also appreciated that, while the parking isn’t individually assigned, there are plenty of parking spots available right next to the building on the macadam, which made things easy and convenient.

Big, clean and comfortable apartment. Huge terrace with a nice view. The communication with the staff was perfect, we couldn't find a key and the owner came to us in a couple of minutes and helped to check in.
