Although we arrived late in the evening, Marie was welcoming and showed us to our very clean room. She asked us at what time we wanted our breakfast and had a full Irish (and some 😃) ready for us the next morning. Her homemade scones and brown bread were sensational. Out the dining room windows we saw their new calf and met Patch, their terrier mix dog. Marie gave us tips, maps, and info on what see in the area and gave us a tour of St. John’s old schoolhouse that is also available to book for a stay. It’s adorable! I can’t say enough about Marie and John’s hospitality and kindness. I hope to see them again if I make it to Ireland!

Located in Castlerea and only 20 km from Roscommon Racecourse, Lisalway Country Lodge B&B provides accommodation with garden views, free WiFi and free private parking. This recently renovated bed and breakfast is located 21 km from Clonalis House and 26 km from Roscommon Museum. The accommodation features luggage storage space and bicycle parking for guests. The bedroom carpet was so soft. The proprietors were super helpful—carrying our luggage up and down the steps, without asking giving me a soothing hot drink with lemon and honey for my cold. The breakfast area was so welcoming and everything was comfortable—the bed and the dining room seats.

The units at the bed and breakfast are equipped with a seating area, a flat-screen TV with streaming services and a private bathroom with a hair dryer and a shower. Additional in-room amenities include chocolates or cookies. At the bed and breakfast, all units are equipped with bed linen and towels. The property is sitting on its own with a beautiful front and back garden. Including a helicopter pad in the back garden which one of the owners Ronald was more than happy to show us and tell us the bit of history behind. The other owner Maureen was such a delight to talk to and get to know also. This property is not a house it is in fact a home! My partner and I felt welcome from the minute we walked in the door and will most certainly be staying here regularly over the coming months. Not to mention the absolute softies Bailey, Bonnie & Clyde. I have never come across more calm and loving dogs!

Beautiful house and hosts were very helpful. Can't think of anything else that could be improved on.

Ard Aoibhinn Roscommon Bed & Breakfast features garden views, free WiFi and free private parking, located in Lecarrow, 8.2 km from Claypipe Visitors Centre. Each accommodation at the 3-star bed and breakfast has quiet street views, and guests can enjoy access to a garden and to a shared lounge. The bed and breakfast has family rooms. Doris and Kevin were the perfect hosts, beautiful home and the breakfast was fabulous, great nights sleep. Rooms bigger than you would expect and to be woken by birdsong was an added extra. The local pubs were about a mile or so down the road with a harbour if you fancy a walk.Athlone town only 10 minutes away if you fancy a more lively night out taxis available. All in all a great find and most definitely would recommend and hope to revisit in the near future.
