CanadaIt's off the beaten track and surrounded by lovely pastures. Ronald cooked us up a classic Irish breakfast made to order. It's very quiet and well-appointed. The beds have cotton sheets (not that polyester stuff we found everywhere else), nice pillows and plenty of space. Very friendly hosts.

The cottage was very well equipped and stocked.
The cottage was very well equipped and stocked. Every single detail was taken care of by the property owners. From the kitchen being well stocked with utensils, cuttlery, foil and butter paper rolls, tea coffee, you think of it and there it was. The fridge had the basics stocked as well. There were different types of power adaptors, spare light bulbs. It was like just move in and start living. Will love to go back again, fantastic location, serene surroundings! What more can you ask for!!

There are beautiful grounds around Kilronan hotel for a walk. Arigna Mines a must for a visit and Drumshambo distilary if you have time.
Lough Key Forest Park for more walks and activities for children.

Attractive town but limited facilities - no obvious public toilets and many of the store's ones were 'out of order', where available good - necessary if you have children or are getting on a bit. Beautiful park, fun all day pub eatery with a train inside, There is also a train service but not many trains - station facilities only available when a train was due. Diet very rich in meat.

The drive up to the house was like a trip to times gone by. The little back road was such a beautiful walk in the wild. Beautiful location, decorated with fabulous taste, bed really comfy, lovely energy, staff so helpful, lovely tour around the house. Lovely breakfasts. Little pub out the back with a beautiful fire. Real family vibe with cats and dogs. really charming. Definitely would go back .

Currently there is no restaurant but there are a couple of takeaways and several little Pubs for unwinding at the end of a long day. The ancient Cathedral of Elphin (in ruins) makes for an interesting delve into some long distant history . This is at the end of the main street.. Elphin is well located to visit Strokestown Park House, a 300 hundred year old Palladian Mansion which houses the Famine Museum and an amazing Walled Garden

I knew nothing about Boyle before I came.
I knew nothing about Boyle before I came. I was there to meet up with some friends. It turned out to be a lovely little town. I wish I had had more time to spend at the King's House and the Abbey. A peaceful and beautiful spot!

The hotel was a one night layover on the way back to Dublin.
The hotel was a one night layover on the way back to Dublin. The staff, the hotel decor and and food was excellent. The bed was very comfortable but the room lacked ventilation, no fan or air conditioning. Only one window opened to a noisy road. An overhead fan could have greatly improved this situation because the outside temperature was not hot.

This town is very interesting.
This town is very interesting. Like most towns Strokestown has been forgotten and it wasn’t as lively as in the past 20 years. However, there is still a great sense of community here and Hanlys and Beirnes pubs are a must to visit. Cox’s coffee house is a modern style cafe with lovely coffee, croissants etc. . Strokestown is a lovely town to walk around. Strolling through the grounds of Strokestown park house is where one can experience first hand a clear view into its rich historical past. There are tours conducted of this house which are excellent.

It was just a few minutes walk to the town of Roscommon from the Abbey Hotel. There are a few cafe's if you feel like having a stop, Also a nice clothes shop/Boutique on the right hand side of the street at the top of the town for ladies.

Great place to stay.We spent a night in one of the castle...
Great place to stay.We spent a night in one of the castle rooms and had a beautiful view of the lake. We had dinner in the restaurant and the food was amazing! The whole stay was very relaxing. The staff were excellent too. We spent the morning before breakfast down at the pool and the jacuzi, sauna - was lovely and went for a walk around the lake. It was perfect getaway for us.
