Featuring mountain views and a garden, 馬籠ふるさと学校 Magome Furusato Gakkou offers accommodation attractively situated in Nakatsugawa, within a short distance of Toson Memorial Museum, Magome Wakihonjin... This place has incredible atmosphere. It used to be an elementary school until they closed it a few years ago. It’s all still intact, the blackboards, the gym, etc. A few minutes walk from the main Magome street. The bunk beds were comfortable. The staff was pleasant and friendly. Looking back, I wish I stayed longer than one night.

Residence Hotel Takayama Station is situated conveniently in the centre of Takayama, and offers a fitness centre, free WiFi and a terrace. This 4-star hotel offers luggage storage space. Very big room for Japan, 30m2, there was a kitchen and washing/drying machine. Practically at the bus/railway station, but we did not hear any noise from trains.

Onyado Yuinosho, Shirakawago provides a sauna and free private parking, and is within 45 km of Hida Minzoku Mura Folk Village and 46 km of Takayama Station. Best experience ever. Huge room with amazing river and mountain view. The onsite onsen was amazing. Complimentary clothes to wear onsite was an added bonus. Best sake I had in japan Free shuttle from village bus stop

Conveniently situated in the centre of Takayama, HOTEL WOOD TAKAYAMA provides air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi and private parking. Really enjoyed my stay at the stylish Hotel Wood. Excellent location close to everything - the old part of town and even the station. The staff were over and above friendly and helpful, they even arranged for a lift to the station when I had to leave early after a snowstorm. The room is very stylishly decorated and comfortable. The bed was on the harder side but was surprisingly comfortable. It was very clean. The central sitting area with free beer and sake in the evening was a nice touch for relaxation. The onsen was really superb. Immaculate and very relaxing. The Japanese breakfast was delicious. Good value for money Would definitely stay here again.

Ideally located in the centre of Takayama, Relax Hotel Takayama Station offers continental breakfast and free WiFi throughout the property. Room was big and nice. Great Location. Near market and attractions.

Effective October 1, 2025, a lodging tax will be introduced by ordinance of Takayama City. In addition to the room charge, 100 yen per person per day will be charged. The guesthouse had everything you could wish for: books, computers, a guitar and even some sauces to use in the fridge. Coffee powder as well. So many things to do. It really felt homey as well.

Ryokan Asunaro: A Traditional Japanese Inn in Takayama. Nestled just a 6-minute walk from Takayama Station and the Nohi Bus Center, Ryokan Asunaro offers an authentic Japanese inn experience. This Ryokan is exceptional. So clean and well appointed. The family are so friendly and helpful. The room was exceptionally clean and comfortable. We loved our dinner in the dining room that we booked in advance. We were very fortunate to be visiting at Christmas time and the Christmas dinner had so much thought and time put into it, making it a very memorable meal and stay for our family.

Only 2 blocks from the bus/train station, and only about a 10 minutes' walk to the market and historic sector. Many delicious restaurants and convenience stores within a 2-block radius. Upon arriving, we enjoyed observing the ryokan traditions; it made the stay very unique. It made us feel so welcome that the check-in process was done seated in an area of the lounge where we were served hot tea as Thant guided us through everything we would need to know for our stay. He helped us reserve time in the private onsen and also a Japanese-style breakfast (was not included in our lodging plan). We paid for the private onsen and breakfast at check-out. Thant then led us up to our spacious room, where all our luggage was already waiting for us. The beds were incredibly comfortable with a foam topper that we just melted into. Nice, warm shower with good water pressure. The building in general seems to get quite cold, but the heater in our room worked very well, and our room had a kotatsu table that was sooo nice and warm. Also, we were traveling for our honeymoon and were very touched by the thoughtful details that the staff laid out for us in our room.

Rooms are very nice and clean and the private onsen are the best added value if you want to have privacy and relax in the onsen.
