A recently renovated guest house located in Sado, temple stay 玉林寺 features a garden. This guest house provides free private parking, full-day security and free WiFi. Location was in a beautiful, quiet semi-rural area of Sado...not too far away from the main attractions though. The temple grounds and buildings were really lovely, the common area for guests atmospheric and homely. The inn section of the temple has only two rooms which are modern and well-appointed with very comfortable beds and air-conditioning. The bathroom and toilet facilities are shared but also very clean and modern. The head priest " Miura san" and his assistant were both lovely, as was their gorgeous dog " Kai" an " Akita inu". ( If you don't like dogs or are scared of bigger dogs than I would find somewhere else to stay. ) Was really a great experience to hear the morning bells being rung, accompanied by the singing Kai! Guests have the option to participate in the morning Buddhist prayers and breakfast. We did this once. It was a good experience, but the brekky might not be to everyone's liking. There is a "Lawson's" convenience store a very short drive away, so very easy to pick up extra snacks and coffee there.
