Our stay at Unsui was one of our top rated experience in Japan. The hosts Satomi and Hal were kind and welcoming. We spent the New Year's Eve in here and they served us Japanese traditional New Year's breakfast and also the onsen yudofu hot pot dish, which made our stay extra special. You could easily tell they poured lots of love and care into all the food and drinks they served, even onto the utensils they used. The design, paintings, displays and all the small details of the whole building and the rooms were just aesthetic and pleasant to look at. Beds were comfortable and the whole apartment was very clean and relaxing. We saw the snowing from the windows and the view really calmed our souls. Location is really good as well. Unsui sat at a quiet and peaceful neighbourhood, right next to the public hot spring Takeo Onsen, and it was a nice walk to all the attractions and the train station. Satomi also gave us good recommendation to all the nearby attractions from this area to some of the nearby towns. Overall, cannot rate this place even higher, hopefully we could go back for a second time.

Due to other people's reservations, we took whatever room was available. We ended up staying 3 nights in 3 different rooms and each one was great. Guests share washrooms and shower/bath but this was never a problem. Much thought and love has gone into making this guesthouse comfortable and beautiful. Great location from which to explore Arita on foot, and Okawachiyama, Hirado and Ikitsuki islands by car. Thank you Hanneke for having us!

A bit of a wild combination, traditional japanese-style rooms in a british-style hotel with Italian kitchen. Works out really well though. The staff is incredibly helpful and attentive. Feels very posh to visit, though i guess for the price you pay that is to be expected. The rentable private rotenburo is great, although mosquitoes can be annoying. The indoor ofuro is great as well, and there is a yukata available in each room.
