The Ryokan has well thought out shared bathrooms, toilet and a small kitchenette with a kettle, small fridge and microwave available for use. The Ryokan is very clean with fresh towels provided everyday. The host Usui san cooks breakfast and dinner daily upon request, but you are free to buy food and eat it at the Ryokan.

Breakfast was an incredible cultural experience, and the guided tour of the townhouses and shopping street gave me a historic context of Otsu that I didn’t know. The coffee bar with snacks and daily free aperitiv was wonderful. Awesome to have an old wellpoint in the building!

The body was sweet and helpful, he came to pick us up from the station and took us back the next morning, the house was beautiful and special. In the evening we took the bycicles to ride around town. The old town is sweet. I wish we'd spent there more time than we did

Marumo Ryokan is an authentic Japanese ryokan and is hands down the best we’ve ever stayed at. The rooms are beautiful and spacious, it is impeccably clean, and the meals are a delicious traditional feast. The hosts are very accommodating and thoughtful. We took the train to Omi-Iwazu and then rode back to Omi-Takashima, where we rented bikes to visit the Shirahige shrine. We also went to Makino to spend some time at the beach. Our entire group of five wished we had planned to stay for 2 or 3 nights instead of one. It was a wonderful retreat from the hustle and bustle of the rest of our trip and we would hands down all choose to stay there again!

I Otsu, 10 kilometer fra Daigoji-tempelet og 11 kilometer fra Shōren-in-tempelet, ligger Inase Otsu Machiya Bed and Breakfast. A unique place with peaceful atmosphere. I enjoyed my time a lot. Everything was excellent.
