Staffs are all really nice and helpful. I arrived really early in the morning by bus and got to check-in at about 7am. Hot water available.

Although we had little time, we could get an insight into the life of the people living on the floating islands, Raúl showed us around in his boat. While it can get really cold on the lake, our beds were warm. Dinner and breakfast was very nice as well.

A few practical notes: the showers are gravity-fed and solar-heated, which means lower water pressure and the hottest water in the late afternoon. The midday sun is intense, so wide-brimmed hats and sunscreen are essential. Finally, a word about Uros itself. Before arriving, I read many reviews dismissing the islands as a tourist trap rather than a genuine community. While tourism clearly plays an important role in the local economy, it is equally clear that this is a real, living community with deep roots. The Uros have existed here for countless generations, passing down knowledge, skills, and craftsmanship. They are skilled fishermen and masters of using reeds for nearly everything imaginable.
