Each morning, the hiking bus picked me up right outside the hotel, and I’d return in the afternoon to relax by the pool and enjoy the comfort of my room. The breakfast was excellent, and the hotel is ideally located within walking distance of downtown Funchal, making it easy to explore and find great dinner options.

Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Casa das Proteas is located at Estrada das Covas nº8, São Jorge, Madeira Island, 50 km from Funchal. The location is excellent as a starting point for several hikes. Beautiful situated place with a fantastic view of the ocean . Very nice and attentive host. She really cares about her guests. The breakfast was marvellous and she even cooked delicious dinners for us. Our room was spacious and very clean. We had a kitchenette and a balcony with sea view.

Charming hotel with its own peculiar vibe. It was very calm and quiet, even though there was a party at the property one of the evenings. Breakfast was very nice and offered many options. The staff is what makes this such a precious experience - even more so than the views (and they are already fantastic).

Lämmitettyjen altaiden ansiosta allasalueesta pystyi hyvin nauttimaan myös viileämmällä säällä.
