New, clean rooms, contemporary classic furniture, nice design of the room. I stayed in the standard double room: large bed and lots of space to move around. At first I was concerned that the street would be busy, but it turned out to be a quiet street with not much traffic. If you go up the road from the hotel, there's a busy commercial street with many shops and cafés. Taxi to the Kyiv train station takes 7 minutes. In short: highly recommend. Will stay again.

Hotel Sofia ensured that my safety and comfort were a priority during a challenging time for visitors to Kyiv. Concierge / reception staff available 24/7 and made a point of checking in with me frequently. My small room was so well appointed with USB & power outlets, lighting, shelving, small desk & comfortable bed that I hardly noticed the small size. The downstairs intimate restaurant was always adequately staffed, again the service was perfect, the menu was incredible and the quality of food wonderful. A small shelter is available if required during Air Alerts, and once again, staff were quietly and reassuringly present when needed. Location - so close to everything you want to see when you first visit Kyiv - Maidan Square, St Sophia Cathedral, St Michael's church, wonderful cafes, the Metro, Freedom Square. There are issues with internet coverage in the city, due to security factors, so the hotel arranged my early morning taxi to the train station, and also re-confirmed it during an Air Alert, so that my travel plans weren't disrupted. Soundproofing was excellent.

Capsules gave great privacy, were spacious, had good ventilation, and the included TV was a nice bonus. Hostel was very clean, other people were quiet, and overall felt like a hotel. Internet was fast, lockers were relatively spacious and had everything I wanted! Great value, priced more than a normal hostel but still far less than a hotel.
