Interesting town liked walking around and would have liked more time to do walks and visit surrounding places of interest Ate at a Thai restaurant at end of main street near wodonga road. Walked up stairs to railway overpass bridge watched a magnificent sunset. Would have liked time to do walk to Murray river
Eating out leaves a lot to desire, 1st nite out at the rsl club food was good, location was like a 1 star restaurant, 2nd nite the meal was cold, and had to request they heat it up (cold steak not nice to eat cold). Next time we will eat at wodonga.
Overall a good experience, spent the afternoon at the Commercial Club buffet lunch good and watched the Caulfield cup with success. great nite at 60th birthday at the Albion hotel. Good food and plenty of drink!!!
I was actually shocked at how great Albury is . It has a lot of fantastic eateries. I had the best Indian meal I have ever had and there is also a great little all day breakfast place as well . It has a fantastic shopping district and the cinema was one of the old style with the two tiers and a was bit of a novelty for my son who has only been in the modern ones . Overall Albury is a fantastic place to stay to break that long trip .
It was a very good short trip. The only thing I didn't like there was fly's, they are every where, sticky, it's like there are something wrong in Albury. Fly's are every where, but when you go to Albury have a walk in the Dean street or Potanic Garden, the Hume Dam, You will understand what I mean. You can't walk one step with out your hands waving flyés away. Other than that, I spent really very good days .
Albury is a large regional centre with a good commercial district. Services are plentiful and restuarants aplenty. The Murray River, Botanical Gardens and its general leafiness add a good nature flavour to Albury.
