We stayed here for 4 days. On check in the staff were very friendly. The chip on our bankcard didn't work so the hosts gave us a tip... and it worked. 😂 loved our room which was upstairs, it was quiet and comfortable. When visiting Gladstone again we will definitely book here. Great value for money.

Super friendly, kind, helpful and accommodating owners/staff. Loved the atmosphere. Our room was super nice, the best we have stayed in so far. I wish we had booked Gladstone Backpackers for longer.

All ceiling fans and air con vents were full of dust. We cleaned filter for ceiling vent which was so thick with dust, no wonder the system wasn’t working.
After cleaning filter this worked properly, however would have expected this to be in order upon arrival
Although comfortable the place was not homely or cosy ,with signs all over the walls This could have been in a folder.
Wall panel for central cooling was very very difficult to use and very sensitive.
Carpets were very dirty and needed cleaning in particular in lounge room and the lawns were not mowed upon arrival and only got done in the day before departure.

Gladstone has so many beautiful parks walks and water fronts...
Gladstone has so many beautiful parks walks and water fronts to spend your time in. A large variety of restaurants and plenty of shops and things to do. The nightlife also doesn’t disappoint, there are quite a few venues to choose from to go for a dance, an evening meal or to sit for a few drinks with live music.
The locals were all very polite and friendly and helpful, it’s a very family friendly city and we think has a lot to offer.

I did not go into Calliope. Went straight to motel just off the highway, arriving after five. The only other feature was a service station with a common driveway. Next morning returned straight to the highway and continued my journey, stopping for breakfast at Gin Gin.

What I love most about this area is the largely unobscured...
What I love most about this area is the largely unobscured horizon (compared to the metro suburbs where we are from). Lovely laid-back small town. Walking tracks great for bikes. Nearby Tannum Sands has a beautiful beach.
Our stay was too short (two nights) and next time we intend to indulge in some water sports.
Not a vast selection of dining comparable to other places, but small price to pay for the great feel of the area.

Such a great location to the beach and esplanade walk. Sparkling pool with nearby birds offered a nice relaxing place to swim. Balcony had lovely view and a nice spot to have brekky. Comfortable beds and newly renovated bathroom.

We were in the CBD area, really not a lot to do in Gladstone...
We were in the CBD area, really not a lot to do in Gladstone. Spinnaker Park was a lovely walk, but we struggled to find anything else worth going to see. We had three nights here, but in hindsight it should of been two at the most.

I stopped at Calliope for an overnight stay on my drive between Brisbane and Townsville. It directly spans the Highway, although the sound of traffic is not an issue. I didn't explore the area as it was a pure travel break, however, I did go to the grocery store area to get some supplies. It has all the features of suburb living, and is essentially a satellite town to Gladstone.

We arrived in the middle of a storm, with no phone or radio...
We arrived in the middle of a storm, with no phone or radio reception host greeted us and gave us information on what was happening and where was available to eat that evening. Very useful. Our room was very clean and comfortable. Undercover parking was handy. The following morning we were able to walk across the road to beach and beautiful park ways. Would stay there again, didn't have the opportunity to use the pool, appeared well maintained.
