Hotel in Hanga Roa ( 0.2 miles)
Featuring a spa, an outdoor pool and a restaurant, Hotel Hare Uta offers accommodations in Hanga Roa. WiFi is available, connection is limited. We stayed for 3 nights and our expectations were exceeded. The hotel is in a good location for exploring the whole island. Our room was in a great position, overlooking the pool, was comfortable and air conditioned. The hotel’s garden, food and cocktails were all brilliant. A taxi into Hanga Roa was only 5000 CLP. We hired a car from the hotel for the day so we could explore ourselves. We then had a half day excursion with a brilliant guide the following day. She was the president of (I think) the tourism board in Rapa Nui. Learning and seeing the Moais was definitely the highlight of the trip.

Cabañas Tahonga Rapa Nui is a recently renovated apartment in Hanga Roa where guests can make the most of the garden and barbecue facilities. The holiday started off amazing when we were greeted at the airport by Gary with an absolutely beautiful Lei garland. Then being taken to the cabin, we were given a warm welcome by Cami, who explained everything about Easter Island and gave us plenty of recommendations for tours, restaurants and shows to see! The accommodation was comfortable, modern with a rustic twist and tranquil. We wanted a rental car which Gary sorted for us which was waiting for us upon arrival. I would highly recommend getting a car to drive to Anakena beach. The cabin is close to their small hotel which gives you access (booking is advised) which Gary set up for us with candles, music and a drink! It was perfect. Very sad to have left! Highly recommend!

Located in Hanga Roa, Cabanas Hinariru Nui offers accommodations with a balcony or a patio, free WiFi and flat-screen TV, as well as a garden. it’s in a garden near the airport ( but only 3-4 flights a week) and a 15-20 minute walk downtown the folks that run it are sweethearts they have rental cars so you don’t even have to leave the property for that…. and their jeeps are as cheap or cheaper than the places in town….
The trip was unique and special, there is lots to do and see. If you like hiking there are some cool spots. The Maio's are special and worth visiting. I would suggest hiring a car to get around and a guide to see the attractions.
Easter Island is a very special place. The history and culture are really remarkable, and the Moai are amazing. It is a long journey to get there, but it certainly is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
The town itself is small and compact, low-key. Great food every night at even small little restaurants. Not much night life. People come for the scenery and history. the rainy weather a few days made it harder to enjoy the sights, so check your timing.
Easter Island is a wonderful place - so remote and full of mystery. Be aware you need to book a guide in advance for most of the best places, so it is expensive. We had a private guide for one day and she was excellent. We hired a car for our other 2 days which gave us the flexibility to go where we wanted. Highlights for us were sunrise at Tonariki, sunset at Tahai, the caldera of the volcano Ranu Kau, paddling with a turtle at Pea beach, and the less-well-known beach at Ovahe - small but pretty and very few people. It is slightly less accessible but fine with our car and a 5 minute walk. Lots of great fish restaurants! Driving was easy apart from lots of pot holes on many roads.
Hanga Roa is like a garden in bloom! So green and calm, and tranquil. Great place. It's even ton a town, just a village with houses hidden in green bushes. Lot's of authentic stone sculptures on the coast. Great seafood in restaurants. And impressive dance shows. Highly recommend!
it is a beautiful island and the local people are proud of their heritage and anxious to share their history. The food was great and the beer very cold (most places). Take a tour of at least one day to go to the most special sites
