The best place to know the city of Shangri-la. The Jun family and staff are very kind and easy to get information about the city. The hostel is lovely and very comfortable. The shower is great, very warm for the cold days and always being clean. The night can sit around the wood stove, have tea and make new friends. Also has a diverse kitchen, I ordered some dishes with friends and it was all delicious! The location is also perfect, I did everything by walking.

We had a wonderful stay at Timeless Inn. On arrival we were greeted with fresh tea and snacks. Our host Rose was very responsive to our needs as guests, especially when our daughter was not feeling well.
She made our stay special, making us feel like friends or family that were visiting. Rose served us both Asian and Western breakfast depending on the day, both were delicious. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable, very clean. We enjoyed to hang out in the dining room and the he 2nd floor balcony. We highly recommend Rose's place if you visit Shangri-la.

Room's are aesthetically designed, room heater is more than sufficient (which we feel is always lacking in other hotels during winter season). Had extended chats with the owner who is extremely friendly and gave good recommendations. Could also tell that they invested a lot in this hotel such as the bed, heating devices, humidifier etc. Breakfast was very good. We also easily arranged for transport to get out of town with their help.

The owner is very friendly and helpful, plus they speak English very well! He also organised the tour to Shika mountain even it was just only me.
The location of the hotel is also good and close to the main tourist attractions.
The room was clean and had proper amenities.

SHANGRI LA is a must destination.
SHANGRI LA is a must destination. Actually Yunnan Province is a must. Every town is so beautiful and exotic.. a dream for the eyes and for the photographers! 3 days per town is a minimum, there is so much to see and the people are really friendly... We could have stayed a week in Shangri La alone, just to be able to explore the area more extensively. We'll definitively shall return!

Firstly this place is very much " designed" to attract tourism. If it is not for the unique temples , buildings and old villages of the Tibetian, their religion influence internal and to the community there which existed many decades ago, the Nepahai Plains, ShangriLa has not much to offer for tourist. Many business commercialise focuses on food and local delicacies.
There are not many heritage location or attractive places to visit. While good natural reserves like Pudacao National Park, a big part of it have been largely closed to visitors.
Quite disappointed .

My experience was of the old town mostly and two excursions one to a local monastery and the other to a national park Potatso about half hour away. The old town is pedestrian so that was good. People friendly. Plenty of food choices. Free join in dancing in town square at night. Streets clean.
Plenty of taxis to get around.
