I cannot say enough about this place. The location is beautiful and its connection to the large Botanical Garden is a major selling point. The staff are extremely knowledgeable and lead very in depth guided hikes through the jungle to see the hundreds of species that are native to the area.
You can certainly come here and relax on the beach, but it's not really that kind of place. It feels like a bit of a remote outpost, which I thought was wonderful. You should be ready to be active. The hikes require Wellington boots, which they'll supply, but you need a good, tall pair of hiking socks underneath. They are strenuous, but so rewarding. Swimming, snorkeling and whale-watching (season permitting) are also possible options.
The food is excellent and eaten family style. I never had a meal there I didn't love.
The bungalow away from the main house was lovely. The only possible drawback to staying there, instead of at the main building, is the lack of Wi-Fi at the bungalow. But I'd argue that's also a feature, frankly. You go to sleep and wake up to the sounds of the surf and the dozens of bird species in the area.

The location and beach is incredibly beautiful. We were the only ones staying there so it felt like own private get away. The cabana is rustic but remarkably well kept and clean. WiFi is the main house is very fast. The owners are friendly and cooked every meal for us. We really enjoyed this off the grid get away.

The town of Mutis in Bahia Solano isn't much, but the area...
The town of Mutis in Bahia Solano isn't much, but the area is impressively beautiful. It's pretty remote feeling here. There seem to be some beach hotels designed for the party crowd: Plays Dubai or Playa Huina come to mind. But that's not really the vibe of this area. It seems more for people coming to dive, hike, snorkel, or whale-watch.
Bahia Solano is a bit difficult to reach, and quite difficult to get out of. You should have at least a day's cushion on the end of your trip before any other obligations or connecting flights. We were lucky to make it out, as it was raining heavily and the outbound flight almost couldn't land. Even when it did, it was only able to take about 2/3 of the ticketed passengers due to weight restrictions on the wet, short runway. Plan accordingly and be prepared for a bit of chaos. It's the price of admission.

The nature is gorgeous but unfortunately the human hand hasn't been the best there. There are not many restaurants you can choose from and at all of them you will always have the choice of the dishes of the day. Surprisingly the fish is never very delicioisly cooked even though is very fresh, the truth catch of the day. It's a very expensive destination since there is almost nothing you can do independenty besides going to the beach and surf. Even though the beach is very beautiful it's also not the best beach expererience for me since the sea is way too hot (over 30 degrees celsius) For whale watching, visit other beaches, and etc you often need to buy an organized tour or ask for a ride from a taxi (tuk tuk or moto). The tours are good but the whale watching is not the best. It's better to do it in bahia solano
