Hotels near Bremen Airport - BRE, Bremen

Bremen is such a lively, historically interesting city. From the river and it's busy maritime activity to the cool, green spaces of its many parks there is so much to enjoy. Touring the Mercedes Benz factory or visiting the outstanding Emigration Museum in Bremerhaven or taking a tour of the mediaeval Town Hall. This is something for everyone.

Nice city with a lot of history. We did not get time to visit any museums. But walked through the old town and it was great. Highly recommend spending time at St. Peter's Cathedral and especially their museum. Mostly ate near the station where we were staying. So no specific eating recommendation.

We went to the opera, which was really cool and we walked around the old town. There is a funfair there which is annoying because you can see the old architecture and the beautiful square because of carnival rides and corn dog stands ,etc. I suppose it would be ideal if you were traveling with kids. Getting around Bremen was really easy and we walked everywhere.

I've been to Bremen plenty of times in the past as there used to be direct flights from Manchester. Now you have to go via Hamburg and then get a few trains. This time I tried KLM's dual flights and, I think I will stick to going via Hamburg in future. Bremen has an excellent bus/tram service to help you get around and the Wienachtsmarkt is one of the best as there are several sites spread around the town, including the Pirate Market by the river.

We spent two nights in Bremen, enough time to visit the romantic Christmas markets (both, in the city square and the Schlachte Zauber recommended!), the main exhibition at the Kunsthalle, and several clothing stores. We lunched at the Markthalle

It’s an ADORABLE little town. I visited in December, when the squares were filled with Christmas market stalls, which only added to the charm. There are plenty of green areas and lovely places to walk along the river. It’s a small, very walkable city. I highly recommend eating at Markthalle Acht, a food court offering a great variety of international and local food. The only downside was the frequent rain, but apparently that’s quite common in German cities.
