The location was very convenient to Hamburg Airport, which made it very easy to get to my flight. It is also very close the U-Bahn station which gives you access to several Hamburg places. The staff was VERY friendly and the place is immaculate.

The hotel is very near to the airport and to Metro Station, just 5-6 mins walk. The room is clean. The receptionist is accommodating and offered us coffee when we arrived as we waited for our room to be ready. They even let us checked in early as 1pm.

It is a fairly new hotel. The staff was very friendly and supportive. As it was all new, the beds were extremely comfortable. Everything is made of wood which feels natural and sustainable.

It's a less than 2km walk to the airport, so if you don't have big luggage or just a backpack it's a nice short walk.
The common bathrooms are very clean and you have all you need for showering or even taking a bath if you would want to.
One bathroom only has a toilet and a sink and the other has that as well plus a shower and a bathtub

The room was very spacious and nicely decorated. The beds were comfortable, including the sofa bed where our son slept. We shared a bathroom with others, but it was very clean. We highly recommend SAM, especially if you need to get to the airport.

It is located 5 miles (8.5 kilometres) from the city centre in the Fuhlsbüttel quarter of Hamburg. Passengers can easily travel to/from Hamburg’s Hauptbahnhof (central railway station) on the S1 S-Bahn (Metro), with trains departing every 10 minutes. Another option is to take the U1 U-Bahn (underground rail) to Ohlsdorf, a junction station for U-Bahn and S-Bahn lines. From there, the S1 operates directly to Hamburg Airport.

Hamburg has so much potential - it could be a cute harbor...
Hamburg has so much potential - it could be a cute harbor city. Unfortunately, so much of that potential is wasted. The city center looks dilapidated and dirty. A lot of the historical buildings in the center near the Rathaus have scaffolding, yet no one is working on them... The scaffolding is just there as scenery, I guess. To make matters worse, the whole German train system is a shambles, so you can't count on get anywhere around Hamburg in time. That really complicates the journey to and from Hamburg, so it's a question if it's even worth going there at all.

Staying in the boheme area of Sternschanze one get a less polished view of Hamburg. It's a very nice neighbourhood with a lot of cute small shops. Even though Hamburg is a big city, the different parts of the city makes it seem smaller and the U/S-bahn is really easy to take anywhere.
