Perfect location. Just a short walk to gorgeous beaches, wonderful restaurants and a long boardwalk that hugs the coastline. The area is calm, away from the crowds that you normally find in the ‘resort’ areas of Lanzarote. So happy we stayed in Playa Honda. As for the accommodations, we absolutely loved casa Orillia! Very clean, well equipped, comfortable, great shower…it had everything we needed. Spent lots of time on the beautiful veranda. Some airplane traffic but it was no bother at all. Didn’t hear a thing once inside the apartment. Our host was the best!

Absolutely super apartment. Clean, spacious and well equipped. Playa Honda is a lovely area, residential rather than tourist, so far less shops and restaurants than neighbouring resorts with a lovely beach. Easy bus transfer from airport (€1.40) with a 10 minute €10 taxi ride back. We were cycling, Playa Honda has a great (uphill) access up to the interior of the island.

Restaurants are fabulous. A wide variety of different foods.

Restaurants are fabulous. A wide variety of different foods. Perfect. Bus stops are close by also a taxi stand. Shopping centre is a bonus if you want to escape the heat. Grab some fabulous bargains & there is also a supermarket there for essentials. The atmosphere is laid back & local people are lovely & friendly. English is widely spoken.

Matagorda is like a second home for me, and I would much...

Matagorda is like a second home for me, and I would much rather stay in Matagorda rather than Puerto del Carmen, however it is close enough for a leisurely stroll, a bus or short taxi ride away if you want something livelier. Alternatively you could even head out past the airport and walk to Playa Honda which is a more residential area.

It's a quiet village in the hills.

It's a quiet village in the hills. It has a small store and a trendy gin bar that serves platters of food. It has amazing views of the sea and Playa Honda which is about a 30 minutes walk away or a 10 minute drive.

· We loved everything about this property, very clean, specious, everything you could need in the kitchen, added towels and washing machine were a bonus, amazing pool area and grounds. Easy to get to from the airport, only a short walking distance from the shops and beach. An absolutely amazing place for families with children who are SEN.

There's nothing really to Masdache itself (no shops etc).

There's nothing really to Masdache itself (no shops etc). There are many wineries nearby, and the closest main town is about 10mins away. It's a good base for day trips etc. You definately need a car though.

Owners Andrea and Gaetano have created a rural retreat for the global village which is incredibly inclusive, welcoming and relaxing. They were patient and helpful, are superb cooks offering the most delicious breakfast and suppers, and so hardworking as they clean and assist guests and manage CASA RURAL GA7COLORES that has several characterful fully-equipped rooms that are pristine and tidy. I had a lovely two days and enjoyed making new friends, walking up a mountain and petting the domestic animals that live there. Thank you also for the transfers to and from the Casa. Above and beyond service.

My favourite places were Puerto del Carmen for its beautiful beaches, lively promenade and fantastic restaurants. We also loved visiting Museo Lagomar, which was absolutely incredible and is a must-see attraction for anyone visiting Lanzarote. We ate at several lovely places during our stay, but our favourite was O’Shea’s Bar & Restaurant. The food was excellent, especially the steak sandwich, which we couldn’t recommend enough! Tías is very easy to get around, especially if you hire a car as we did. It made exploring the island simple and gave us the freedom to visit nearby towns and attractions whenever we wanted. As a family of four, we had an amazing time. We hired bikes and electric scooters, which were so much fun and a great way to explore the local area together. Tías is much quieter than the surrounding towns, making it the perfect place for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday while still being only a short drive from the busier resorts. We would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful base with plenty to see and do nearby.

All local people, no tourists to speak of. Lots of lovely restaurants & shopping with a very easy stroll. Beach lovely. Great atmosphere. Very peaceful location. Wonderful if you love aircraft spotting!

Guime is a five minute drive from the airport - it is a...

Guime is a five minute drive from the airport - it is a village on the hillside above the airport and Playa Honda. It has a village shop and one bar. Buses pass through every 1.5 hours or so. It is extremely quiet - it is not directly on the flight path. The only sounds were usually dogs barking in the distance and a cockerel somewhere or other. There is very little through traffic and only a couple of minutes from San Bartolome, walkable in about an hour at a relaxed pace. there is a nice Pizzaria in San Bartolome as well as a number of shops.

We were visiting our son studying in Arrecife so our situation is a bit different. If I went to Lanzarote as a "tourist" I would certainly avoid Puerto del Carmen and the touristy parts and would rather stay somewhere else. But I absolutely understand if somebody likes the amenities offered by PdC as it is central and much nicer than the tourist hell in for example Tenerife's south.
