Everything is thought out for the guests comfort. Every detail has a lot of heart put into it. We especially enjoyed the extra comfy bed and the view from our window. Oscar and the team took excellent care of us. The breakfast they served for us every morning is an experience you shouldn’t miss. What a beautiful place. The architecture, the history and the mystery behind this place. The room and common area are very pleasant, peaceful and well decorated. We've been welcomed by Alba who took time to make us visit the whole place and gave us recommendations to do around. The bedding is very good quality. And also the location is very convenient. Absolutely fabulous hotel, staff cannot do enough for you and the facilities are stunning. Rooms are huge and have everything you could possibly need including luxury toiletries, mini bar, two tv's and bluetooth speakers. Only a short walk or taxi journey to the seafront so in an ideal location.

The Island Out of This Planet

Volcanic Lanzarote, one of the Spanish Canary Islands, features the dramatic landscapes of the Timanfaya National Park and the lush beaches of Papagayo and Blanco. Its out-of-this-world appearance, due to volcanic eruptions of the 18th and 19th centuries, earns Lanzarote a well-deserved spot in the sci-fi film sets list.

Overall: An extremely intimate and peaceful property, with a minimalist aesthetic and meticulous attention to detail. It is located in a residential area on the edge of Costa Teguise, making it a pleasure to return to every evening. Outdoor area: Lovely, with a small pool surrounded by beautifully maintained greenery. Rooms: Spacious and welcoming, with a large bathroom and impeccable cleanliness. Breakfast: A real treat. Different options are offered every day, and all our choices were truly delicious. The menu for the following day is sent via WhatsApp, and guests are asked to indicate their preferences. Personally, I don't like the waste associated with buffet breakfasts and find this to be a much more appropriate solution.

Really spacious and well laid out complex. Great choice of food at the buffet restaurants, we tried the main restaurant, the Italian and the Asian (the last one is booked online). Really liked how well run the poolside buffet snack bar was if you just wanted a light bite rather than the main buffet lunch option and great for an early morning coffee! Easy walk to the local marina which is gorgeous for a morning out and a convenient location for a trip to Timanfaya National Park. Will definitely be back!

Puerto del Carmen is very scenic with a fantastic long strip for walking the ocean front. It’s totally geared towards the tourist and is very easy to get around. There is a good bus service to get to other parts of the island. Transfer from airport is only 10-15 minutes.

Plays Flamingo is approximately a 15 minute walk along the promenade to the main resort of Playa Blanca, where there are lots of bars/restaurants and shops on the sea front and behind a pedestrianised street lined with a variety of shops including 2 supermarkets. Playa Flamingo is a beautiful quiet beach set within a bay of golden sand and safe swimming. Perfect for families with young children. There are no sun beds and parasols to hire. There are several restaurants/bars and 2 supermarkets within the bay on the promenade together with a lovely little outside bar opposite the main steps down to the beach. There are also slopes available at each end of the bay to enable access the beach. Playa Flamingo is a perfect location.

Arrecife itself is only really worth visiting for a day, the marina is quite nice for a drink and a snack, there is a craft beer bar 'Cerveza de Lanzarote NAO' (if you can find it and navigate its peculiar opening hours!), a sunset drink in the Grand Hotel can be nice and there is a small eating and drinking area just behind the Hotel Mirimar, which can be quite vibrant at night. The lovely Reducto beach was polluted and swimming is prohibited and there is no swimming at Islote de la Fermina!

I think Playa Honda is a lovely, quiet resort.

I think Playa Honda is a lovely, quiet resort. There are decent bus links to main towns, and the small main shopping centre is good. There is a smattering of good bar/cafe/restaurants on the front. There are good unfacilitated beaches (by Lanzarote standards) which enable safe swimming. We found a couple of local bars which we really liked. Bike hire is good, and there are good cycle paths. Easy walking to Arrecife and Puerto del Carmen

We particularly liked the outdoor space at the house.

We particularly liked the outdoor space at the house. We could just have done with more sun so that we could make the most of it! The house was well equipped for our needs and was immaculately clean. We found the bath/shower arrangement a bit tricky- hard to avoid flooding the bathroom when having a shower. We liked Tías, which didn’t feel touristy at all. We liked walking down to the town to eat in the evening sometimes, rather than going further afield by car. Very helpful host, who made recommendations and helped us with bookings.

In love. Will definitely come back. To me it was the place with the most soul. Also surfers are a cool subculture, free spirit you can feel it. The appreciation for nature is big, the majestic landscape takes your breath away and it is a humbling experience. You can just stare at the waves for hours and be in awe by the sheer and raw power and beauty of nature. We loved it. We ate and drank a lot at La Mar cafe (best vegan burger) and it has a really cool vibe with good music. Beach bar has the best coffee and smoothies and also food. Everything is there, restaurants, shops, the beach and still if you have a rented car you can get anywhere on the island in 30 minutes. We had a bit of bad luck with the weather during our stay as it was mostly cloudy, raining and very windy due to storm Francis. Next time we will be here at a better time and I will try surfing.

Yaiza is a very pretty small town inland, There are good bus links to coastal resorts, the airport and Arrecife. There are a few cafes, bars and restaurants and a little, well stocked supermarket. We spent lots of time in the Bar Stop which serves the best chickpeas in the Canaries but can run out of other food if its a busy day. La Era is a beautiful restaurant with a typical menu.

I was there in early March, and it did feel a bit off-...

I was there in early March, and it did feel a bit off-seasony and quiet. Some of the cafes I had wanted to try were closed until the end of March. Still, a small handful of good restaurants, and easy access by road to the other parts of the island, so it was a good base to explore from. I recommend Ikarus for fresh fish, Boutique del pan-San Rafael for coffee, and the Creperia for cheap/cheerful tapas and drinks outside with music. I found the locals all very friendly.

Tinajo is in a good location for seeing the sights of...

Tinajo is in a good location for seeing the sights of Lanzarote. It feels like a proper Spanish village, in contrast to some of the resorts on the island. We ate in three different restaurants and had three lovely meals.
