Never actually talked to or saw any staff. They were very efficient to give me the codes for the building and room prior to arrival. When we arrived to the room - the receipt for payment was on the table. There was water and a cookie on the bed. The room is very simple and small but has everything you need for a nice stay. Great location and easy free parking.

It is a quiet and appealing little town with a good choice of places to eat and drink. A good baker and three supermarkets to choose from. Buses (cheap) and the excellent Fred Olsen Express ferry service can be used to travel to San Sebastian, Valle Gran Rey, etc.

Nice small village famous for pottery.
Nice small village famous for pottery. Green part of the island with the downside that it is often foggy or inside clouds. I liked the character of the village and had a great view from above. Depending on your destinations few places are near and for going to the east and south-east it’s up to 1 hour drive - but La Gomera is so beautiful that every road trip is already an adventure and a sightseeing trip. Next mini-market is just a few minutes by car.

Great for walking around and getting good views.
Great for walking around and getting good views. A viewpoint near the parador is worth the uphill walk. Also good to explore the beach and viewpoint near the port.
Lots of lovely bars and restaurants along side streets and near the main square. Great atmosphere during the Three Kings/Epiphany festival.

Valle Gran Rey is very beautiful situated at the bottom of a very steep valley with spectacular scenery. You have to be able to cope with very windy mountain roads with sheer drops! It is dominated with German travellers and has multiple good restaurants at very friendly prices.

La gomera is a special place for those of us that have been visiting for many years.
Go and give it a go, either you'll love it, or find its just not your thing.
The Gomerans are a little, keep them selves to themselves kinda people.
The Germans are many and to be honest I find most of them pretty boring, walk all day, throw their fagbutts on the beach and then go to bed early.
as for the Bongo drumming, I try to keep clear of that now, but great for the newer visitors.

Hermigua - great starting point for hikes, for artists and creatives, and for a vacation of tranquility.
We liked the location in the green hills, the tranquility but also that Hermigua offers plenty of facilities, such as supermarkets and restaurants. For us, it was a perfect staring point for our hikes. After an active day, we could rest on the terrace of our cottage and enjoy the fantastic view during a glass of wine.
Also, it is close enough to the sea and San Sebastian, the largest city can be reached within half an hour.
From our cottage, Casa Panama, we could reach town centre within 15-20 minutes on foot to do our shopping or to go for a walk. There are three supermarkets within reach + an organic biofinca where you can get fresh vegetables and fruits that are picked freshly in the garden.
We had dinner at Los Telares that was delicious and visited more by tourists. For a local experience, I recommend La Casa Creativa that offers great quality for a good price. We also loved the food as well as the cosy admosphere and the friendly staff.
A great activity is to go swimming at Piscina Natural which is a natural swimming pool and amazing but only recommendable during low tide and needs to be done with prudence.
To summarize: Hermigua is a great place for hikers, artists and creatives and people who look for tranquility in a beautiful surrounding.

If you want nightlife and action, this is not the place for you. A gentle sea side location with enough restaurants to keep you entertained in the food department.
Beach is black sand and pebble. Gentle shallow water.
There are shops to buyy provisions (at least 2 supermarkets) and a post office but not much else in terms of shops. Nice hand made jewellery shop (although a little pricey)
Ideal base location for touring the island

We went to watch the start of this years Atlantic Row as I had taken part in it 2 years ago and we were seeing the crew who bought our boat off on their challenge. As always San Sebastian was delightful and having been there a few times over the years we were able to visit all of our old haunts just before Christmas which was excellent.

We chose a restaurant Esperanto by the Port , it is owned by a couple from Germany. The husband being the Chef. The food was excellent and highly recommend a visit.

It’s a beautiful village nestled in the mountains. It’s close to the national park and if you like hiking then it’s ideal but I’d suggest having a car as the local bus timetable is very confusing and not very frequent.
