Beautiful view and sunny breakfast room were lovely. Accommodations were comfortable and clean; the accommodation was easy to get to.
Mr MacLean provided the generous continental breakfast and was particularly helpful in making a local call to hep us get in touch with someone we were wanting to meet and visit with. We really appreciated his interest in helping us connect and the information he provided! He was a such a great host!!

Oban is a great place to visit.
Oban is a great place to visit. There’s plenty of restaurants, cafes & coffee shops to cater for every taste. There’s also an array of shops (including supermarkets, chemists & banks), a distillery & little galleries including one which sold entirely local & handmade gifts & cards. It also has a railway station &, of course, a ferry terminal.
I enjoyed visiting McCaig’s Tower, which dominates the skyline above the town. There were amazing views of the sea & islands - including the Isle of Mull in the distance. It was incredibly peaceful, but also interesting watching the all the ferries coming & going. It’s only a short walk from the town centre, although for anyone with health issues it is a very steep walk.
I also visited to Dunollie Castle just outside the town. It is the most beautiful walk! Once there again, from the medieval ruins, there are fantastic views. There’s a small museum & gift shop; a beautiful garden & an outdoor cafe. The staff there were extremely friendly & informative.
After visiting the castle I then walked further along the road to a lovely little beach at Ganavan. It’s only a small beach, which I imagine in the summer would become quite crowded.
My stay in Oban was only a short one (& I enjoyed the most amazing weather!), before I caught a ferry to the Isle of Barra, but I would highly recommend visiting Oban & thoroughly explore what this little town has to offer!

There is very little at Barcaldine apart from a few houses but it is set in a lovely part of Scotland and is ideal as a touring centre or for cycling as it is on the Caledonia Way. Ideally, you need a car to get to pubs, shops and restaurants and explore. It is a few miles from Oban which has all amenities including ferries to Mull and other places.

Great to have the right to roam on the island.
Great to have the right to roam on the island. Wonderful to walk on the island's 'spine' and see all around the beautiful mountains and sea. And delightful to go down to the cove with the bothy, sit on the rocks with feet in the water, hearing the gentle lapping of the sea.

As it was November, a number of venues had closed for the season but there were still a lot of restaurants to choose from within a 20 minute drive. The pink shop, Munro's is very well stocked and the staff lovely and welcoming.
Ronnie, the host at Coel Ila was most welcoming and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay

Great seaside town with busy harbour.
Great seaside town with busy harbour. It's worth doing a day trip to one of the Islands by ferry. There are also boat tours available. You can walk up to the Folly (McCaig's Tower) above the town, or to Pulpit Hill. We got the bus to Ganavan sands which is a nice beach. The distillery is good to visit - booking required. Plenty of shops to browse and a good selection of bars and restaurants.
