Betty and Zainab were particularly wonderful people who helped made my stay enjoyable.

This was a very cozy place to stay for two days. Simple, quiet, clean with space I could think and relax from my touring of many historic places including Mole National Park, the mystic stone, the oldest reported mosque in Ghana and of course the market place in the center of town.

Compared to all other options, this is by far the best value you can get. A small room is 250 GHS and a big room 300 GHS. The location is extremely clean, the rooms are bright with a lot of sunlight, the managing receptionist is very courteous and professional, and the hotel is right in the center of Tamale. Due to the double double glazed windows (IRRC), the noise from the main street was reduced considerably. The mattress and pillows were comfortable. Notably, there were no issues with electricity. At the AirBnB around Tuunayili Last Stop where I stayed for 2 months previously (same price), blackouts were a huge issue - about 3 times a week, for several hours. The record was 18 hours no electricity. At Gidi Lodge, the personnel is using backup generators. All hotels and AirBnBs in that price range won't use backup generators to save fuel. For a backup generator, you usually have to pay at least 50€ or more per night. The internet at the Gidi Lodge was fine, and the water was also running (which is not to be taken for granted). Overall, this is an exceptionally well-run hotel. After moving to the next town, I really miss Gidi Lodge. Anyone visiting Tamale should definitely book this place.

Just a 10 minute ride outside of the center, the hotel is located in a very calm and friendly neighborhood. We were welcomed by a exceptionally friendly and attentive team that went above and beyond to make us feel at home and supported us in our travel logistics. The facilities in our room were very nice, clean and comfortable. The shower was especially good and the AC was working fine. The rooftop restaurant offers a stunning view on the area, perfect spot for sunset - if I would live in Tamale I would definitely go there more often just to enjoy the rooftop. The food at the restaurant was very well prepared and the staff was just as friendly and professional as the rest of the team. Having travelled throughout Ghana for 4 weeks, staying at multiple nice hotels, with top staff this was maybe the best service we received. Thank you very much for hosting us!
