Nuuk's downtown feels like a city, you know the section of town where people live and work. Once we went down to the old city, we found the colorful houses and history we were looking for. If we'd had more time, we would have gone out in the harbor on a boat, gotten it in nature a bit more. The Greenland Museum was really informative. It should be a first stop! The art museum was nice, though didn't explain the significance of the Tainan art, which I'd hoped to learn. The city was easy to walk around, though lots of fast cars. Taxi were all over if you don't want to walk.
It is a unique place in the world. But in the winter it's freezing cold- bring the right kind of clothing, including boots that grip- not everyone shovels as well as they could, or if they do, the wind blows the snow around a lot. If you are prepared, you will enjoy it. There are limited activities to do in the winter, so it won't be a long stay. It is very informal and you need to be self reliant.
The public transportation is easy. The taxis are on time and plentiful. It's colorful. People are outgoing, friendly, culture runs deep. I loved the harbors. I sat for hours watching boats come in and out around ice sheets
You need to plan your stay with excursions ahead of time. I found this difficult since the online booking systems are non-existing. There are two tour operators, I used Tupilak Travels. Had two nice boat trips, but couldn't book anything outside of openining hours (eg for the next day). You don't need more than a day to do the shopping and seeing Nuuk. The rest of the time should be spent out on trips.
