This is exactly what one should expect from a traditional Japanese room. Not a negative, just good to understand beforehand for westerners.

He was not only the best host we’ve had in Japan, but the best host we’ve ever had anywhere. His English is excellent and he has a lot of knowledge and curiosity, all making it a pleasure to speak with him. He also knows a lot about the Island so you really get to understand and experience life here. He is truly a one of a kind person (and also a great cook).
