Easy to get around, lovely beach, lots of beautiful places...
Easy to get around, lovely beach, lots of beautiful places to eat. We stayed for 4 days and it was a perfect amount of time as we didn't plan any day trips. Bolt taxi - an excellent service and we would highly recommend the Wyndham Hotel.

Everything was wonderful including the hosts, property, room, location, parking, fresh local foods for breakfast, and surrounding towns full of shopping , restaurants, sight seeing and activities. The value for your money was phenomenal. I wish all hosts were as kind, attentive, helpful, caring, and concerned for all of our needs. The breakfast choices were wonderful and both days we didn’t eat lunch because we weren’t hungry after the large, delicious breakfast.

Very nice quiet village not far from A22 and N125. Good eating and drinking, though this is not a late-night centre! It's only about 20 mins to some good beaches and handy for a trip uphill to Monchique.

Too short a visit to give a definitive answer as attending athletics event and not enough to explore, however liked what we saw. Had a superb meal at Namaste India Tandoori Restaurant in direction of Praia de Rocha. Without personal transport Uber was ideal.

Ferragudo is a small and characterful fishing village across the river from Portimao. It has a number of good bars and restaurants, is close to some lovely beaches, and also not far from other resorts in the Western Algarve, including Carvoeiro and Alvor

Beautiful town and surrounding areas. Plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from. If you get fed up with those then Portimau is only around the corner. Have to recommend the Fisherman's Rest for seafood if that's your thing - in the hub of it all but very traditional and very reasonably priced.
The beaches are ridiculously beautiful in the area. Very very well maintained and not over-crowded. Uber are cheap all over the area and the longest we waited for one was 5 mins.
The people in the entire region are also very very courteous and generous. Well worth a visit.

Highly recommend this cozy cottage just outside of Portimao. The owners are lovely people and they make sure the guests have everything they need. The apartment is newly renovated, spotlessly clean, comfortable, absolutely gorgeous gardens and pool, 15-20 minutes to Portimao and the beach, and perfect for a place to really relax.

Amazing how most people have patience for strangers to go out of their way to help guide us in every day tasks and with smiles. I am truly grateful for the Portuguese people I met in my life. Experience will have to take with me for ever. The life styles while here were so different and amazing. What a gift to have experienced looking forward to come back again. Thank you for sharing.

We have been to a number of places in the Algarve and love...
We have been to a number of places in the Algarve and love them all but Ferragudo and Casa Rio Vista trumps the lot. Beautiful apartment, warm welcome from our host Marco and friendly people in some excellent restaurants. Not to forget beautiful beaches. What more could we ask for? Hope to return again soon.

Been visiting Alvor for yrs.
Been visiting Alvor for yrs. This trip was the third this year. Alvor not for the party animal. But some great nights to be had. Walking along boardwalk and other pathways a must. The people are delightful, always smiling. Plenty of taxis to be had. For people with mobility issues Alvor might prove a challenge due to streets being steep,uneven footpaths that are also narrow. You will be spolt for choice regards restaurants,bars,entertainment and all the fish dishes you would like.
