Once great city on a downhill slide (or going uphill and I haven't noticed yet.). Has a university, a college and several large corporations, still. It wasn't done a favor years ago when the freeways were built. It is hilly and the exchanges are awkward and ugly. Many people still call Binghamton home. There is one bad neighborhood that I know of. The surrounding area is beautiful, with lots of parks and such. If you live in the hills, it is idyllic, looking down on the domes and spires of the churches.

I absolutely loved this place.

I absolutely loved this place. The area was quiet and very nice .It was close to everything I had planned for this trip. We were greeted very warmly upon check-in and they accepted my requests without any hesitation. The room was exceptionally clean. The breakfast had a variety of things which I absolutely love and the coffee was very good ( always a plus for me) Thank you for making my one night stay memorable. I will return here on my next visit.

I was on a college visit with my son.

I was on a college visit with my son. We only stayed one night. The hotel was dirty. I don't need much just a clean place to leave my belongings and lay my head at night and this was NOT the place. If we didn't arrive later in the evening and needed to stay more then just a couple of hours we would have left and ventured off to find a different hotel. The surrounding area was ok, the hotel is right off the main roads so it is convenient but not someplace you want to be walking around.

There are many services nearby. Popular restaurants and grocery store within walkable distance. Larger appliance and other restaurants short drive away. Easy access to main highway and Rt 81 was colorfully decorated for the holidays.

Vestal is a sprawling community with a university.

Vestal is a sprawling community with a university. There doesn't seem to be a real downtown although there is a town square where entertainment is offered in the summer months. Rather, there is a large commercial area along a roadway called the Vestal Parkway with a variety of retail shopping and dining options. There are a number of quality golf courses in the area as well one of the largest collections of working carousels.

We only went into the city area for a grocery shopping experience at Wegmens. Other than that our visit was primarily with a family living in Greene, NY. Consequently we saw little of the town and never did go into Binghamton the whole time we were there.

I wish I could have explored the city but we were at the end of the first leg of a long trek from northern NY to New Jersey on a tight schedule… at night. The small detour downtown was 100% worth it to reach the much nicer Hilton DoubleTree rather than take any motel along the highway. At 1am on a Friday, there were a few groups of young adults on the streets- but these were otherwise pretty quiet. Buildings and streets looked clean. We left before morning light but had the time allowed, we would have definitely tried one of the many small cafes and little eateries seen near the water. After driving through so many crumbling ghost towns in upstate New York and them passing through the vast Syracuse, Binghamton was a great size city for our stop. We will plan to have time to visit if we come back in the area!

This hotel provides nothing that is advertised.

This hotel provides nothing that is advertised. It’s dirty, breakfast menu hangs on wall but nothing advertised is available. No decaf coffee or healthy breakfast options. No way to get change for washer and dryer. Cups in room were dirty and moldy! 2 days of no serving utensils for food!
