Cortez is a nice place to spend time if you love mountain biking and hiking. It has clean air and easy access to the Mesa Verde national park. I've done some wonderful mountain bike rides there over the years and it's also really close to Hovenweep National Monument, which is totally worth the trip and a wonderful, quiet place to camp.

Tours of Balcony House and Long House were really interesting and fun. Being able to get "into" the sites and hear about the history and culture of those who lived there was fascinating. The condition of these places is really amazing given their age (800 - 900 years old).

The hotel was clean and everything worked. Employees were friendly, knowledgeable, and cordial. The casino was clean and well staffed. While i personally did not eat there, the rest of my family did and said it was enjoyable.

We were only in Cortez overnight after travelling all day and visiting Four Corners. Had a really great meal at El Campestre Mexican Restaurant. If you want some good Mexican food, you won't go wrong choosing this place! In my never to be humble opinion!!

The ranger tour of Cliff Palace was excellent.
The ranger tour of Cliff Palace was excellent. Our ranger Adam was very passionate and knowledgable about the park and really helped us to understand what life was like for the people who had occupied these dwellings.
Overall these cliff dwellings are fascinating and it was very exciting to be able to see some of them up close and personal.
Driving around the park was very easy and well signposted.

Newly remodeled. Room was very clean.
Newly remodeled. Room was very clean. Showers only, no tubs, which was a problem for small child that hates showers. Restaurant was short staffed or made us wait hoping we would gamble in the casino. Parking lot has security patrol. There is nothing there, its in its own location, a few miles outside Cortez, CO.

We only passed through Cortez for 1 night.
We only passed through Cortez for 1 night. Ate supper at a Mexican restaurant that had bugs flying around, however the food was good. Vacated our reservation at the Cortez Econo Lodge because it was dirty, the room door had a 1" gap at the bottom and many people hanging around, appearing to be long term stays that liked to party. Advertised a pool but that was filled in with dirt. Ended up at staying at Baymont which was excellent.

The park was great a lot of trails to see the history but, if you want to a do a cliff palace or balcony tour the tickets are sold out within 1 minute of them going on sale and when we got to the park we realized why they went so fast is because they have several bus tours all day long.

I have stayed in this hotel at least 14 nights for business travel reasons. 7 nights in a row were pre-COVID. My room this time was showing it's age as the mirrored door that usually conceals the closet was missing (but the brackets were still in place) and there were scuffs on the walls that could have used some touch-up paint. The restaurant staff were very friendly but SLOW. There is a truck stop/fuel station across the parking lot that has a very clean laundry room making this a very convenient place to stay.
