You'll enjoy being right at the Wright Brothers Memorial, a just few miles from Jockey's Ridge, locals gather atop the dunes for watching the sunsets and all enjoy seeing kites flying which are available right across the street at Kitty Hawk Kites...and we like the different putt putt golf courses, team challenge.
Creative dishes from some of the best chefs in fun restaurants, from casual to evening dining...a pallet treat. You have to go to Goombays on the beach road to eat and to Surfin Spoon for your own custom made sundaes.
Wonderful local shops with handcrafted arts.
...and all this pales to the clean sandy beaches just steps from your door. Watch a beautiful ocean sunrise, surfers, and bring your fishing pole. (umbrella or tent on hot days...and cool beverages)
Tons of public access parking, many with showers for leaving the sand at the beach and not in your car. 100% family friendly, but cool enough for fun. 😉

The Elizabethan Gardens during the Christmas timeframe were amazing to walk through! The aquarium on Roanoke was also pretty cool with a picturesque view of the sunset on the dock out back was the perfect ending for our trip. Will definitely be back!

One of my favorite places on Earth!
One of my favorite places on Earth! They have done a good job containing commercial and retail development for the most part. Cannot beat the history of the Outer Banks and Cape Hatteras National Seashore.
The locals are great until they get a little worn out in August but pick the smiles back up after Labor Day. Love the place and the people. Fishing is available from shore, pier, soundside and boat excursions.

It wasn't noisy like most hotels. The room was fairly cleaned. The mattress was pretty broke down. There was a kiosk with a person to check in and no one reachable for the towels and wash cloths that should have already been in the room until the next morning. With all that said I have to say it was still a good value.

beautiful location but we visited during stormy weather so not ideal for walking on the beach. Also the Wright Bros memorial was closed due to government closures. However, this meant we discovered Manteo - the lost English colony which was a delight to walk around. We also went to some fantastic restaurants - Mama Kwans, Jolly Roger and Shipwrecks. All served great food and had wonderful differing ambience.

Having a room facing the ocean was a special treat! Watching the waves roll in every day was magical for we midwesterners! The hotel is close to so many fun and historic restaurants. We enjoyed the nearby RunDownCafe, and Black Pelican. It was super easy to get to the Wright Brothers monument, memorial, and museum, which was our goal.

The beach is wonderful any time of the year. I do not have anything negative to say. Jolly Roger's resturant has fabulous food and the staff is so nice. Darrells restaurant in Manteo has great home cooked food.

This was actually on Roanoke Island about a quarter of a mile from Fort Raleigh Historical Site and Visitor Center, Elizabeth Gardens, and the Lost Colony. I wasn't really there long enough to see or do much, but Manteo appears to have plenty of restaurants and other attractions. Where I stayed was directly across Roanoke Sound from Nags Head (I could even see it from my rental) which is just a short drive away. I'd highly recommend this to anyone looking to relax at the coast and explore!

I loved the area, husband and I are trying to figure out when we can return, so many other things we wanted to see. The fact that we are from Ohio and my daughter attended Wright State University was a great connection since the Wright brothers took first flight in KDH area. We enjoyed going sandboarding and trying the various restaurants.

The house was very noisy when outside in the pool area since they are building a house right next door. The hammering, drilling, and excavation work gave me a headache. The other side of the house they are sanding the decks and refinishing them and extremely loud also.
