The staff were awesome, very pleasant, considerate they went out of there way to help us and made us very comfortable. I would recommend this place because of the staff. I just want to say that they were there for us on short notice and will definitely return in the near future.

Location was close to everything and the gentleman at the front deck was very nice and gave us a room that was non-smoking.

Wrightsville is convenient to folks in the Triangle; it's only a 2 hour drive. This place gets SUPER crowded during the summer months though. Fall was a spectacular time to visit - the weather was perfect & the crowds have subsided.
Do yourself a favor & walk beyond the Shell Island Resort. There are tide pools & miles of shoreline to explore. It's a beach walk not to be missed.
Great local food options too. We love: Vito's pizza & the Fish House Grill.

Wilmington is a beautiful coastal city, along the lines of Charleston and Savannah. Colonial, Civil War and WWII history abounds. The riverwalk district is wonderful. There's lot's of museums and performance venues. Plus you have beaches just minutes away.

Beautiful beaches, lots of places to eat nearby and very low key. If you are looking for a long weekend but the beach, this is your spot!
We loved "The Drift" for breakfast and if you want a cool place for after dinner go to Concord Espresso Bar. The Flight of Espresso Martinis and S'mores are great. Make reservations ahead of time for outside. Careful not to burn yourself on the Marshmallows like me!

I have visited Wilmington for the past 34 years.
I have visited Wilmington for the past 34 years. I am a life long resident on North Carolina and stumbled on Wilmington completely by accident while attending a conference in 1991 in Castle Hayne, I love riverfront cities like Charleston, Savannah, Mobile or even New Orleans for find the convenience of location to the beach and other amenities to be wonderful. I go there from Charlotte NC about3-4 times each year for 3 or 4 day getaways, and can never get enough.

I love Shell Island Resort!
I love Shell Island Resort! We go every year to celebrate my birthday. We always enjoy that each room has an ocean view. We love the easy access to the beach. It is an old resort but in great condition, obviously some things could use an update, but they are not anything that will ruin your trip.
