Newburgh seems to be a struggling city. Some parts were nice and others definitely did not seem safe. We split our time between Newburgh and Beacon. In Newburgh, we visited the George Washington Headquarters historic site (very cool) and the Motorcyclepedia Museum (also very cool). There are plenty of options for dining. Getting around was easy enough (except the Washington Heights area).

This hotel would be great for if you were traveling a distance and needed a last-minute place to stay, my in-laws stayed there for two weeks although the staff was fantastic there were some other things that needed to be taken care of. They did enjoy the stay in the hotel and in the room that they stayed in the other concerns with people being outside without masks you had to walk through them, and the broken lock on the door was mine and my husbands because they are in their 80s and we need to really make sure that they were going to be safe because they were traveling back-and-forth to Middletown to take care of their elderly brother. So it was a halfway mark between where they need to go and get easy access back home to the hotel because they flew in from North Carolina.

Cold Spring, NY is easily accessible from NYC via the Metro North train. It's a nice, peaceful getaway, where you can go hiking; shopping in the cute shops; eating at one of the many restaurants; enjoying the beautiful view of the Palisades; or seeing the many beautiful gardens in town. I loved the view of the river at the end of Overlook Trail in Little Stony Point. Make sure to wear bug spray while hiking!

It was a convenient place to stop on our trip. The Danskammer Inn itself was great! The falls were quite impressive. There are vineyards nearby. Otherwise the town centre was a little dustier and more rundown than I would have liked.

Everything was beautiful,our,room,bathroom incuded a hairdryer,all buildings very clean,cute giftshop,grounds meticulous,amazing veiws,walking trails,short easy trip to West Point( dont miss going there if you havent been,for all ages).

only 1 restaurant for dinner-food was amazing but soo expensive! Wish there was another choice on site,but there were typical places available in town. Breakfast was the usual choices-very good. Lunch was available but we didnt try.nor did we try the spa.
There were trains going by at night but in the distance-we heard them but didnt bother us.
Definitely will be back!
