During this experience, you'll get to encounter howler monkeys and spot manatees. You'll start off with a 30-minute boat ride through the mangroves to Monkey River village before heading upriver. Along the way, you may see crocodiles, iguanas, turtles and various tropical bird species.
Once upriver, your expert guide will lead you into the rainforest to search for howler monkeys, who you'll probably hear before you see. Your guide will also point out various trees and plants used as medicine by local bush doctors. During your relaxed hike through the forest, you may spot gibnuts, deer, ocelots, peccaries, tapirs, coatimundis, agoutis and other wildlife.
On the way back, you'll stop at Miss Alice’s restaurant in Monkey River, where you can buy lunch. You'll then head out on a manatee watch as you make your way back to Placencia.
