    Augsburg’s water industry left many monuments from the late Middle Ages to 1972 – 22 objects belong to the UNESCO World Heritage Site “Augsburg Water Management System”. Four Lech canals flow through the Lechviertel. Three monumental fountains adorn the city centre. The tour leads from the town hall square through the Lechviertel to the waterworks at the Red Gate : one of the three water towers there is one of the oldest surviving water towers in Central Europe (without an indoor visit).
