You’ll begin with an ascent by cable car and a 4x4 bus up to 2,850 m, where the walking route starts. The trail leads across extinct craters, eruptive vents and lava fractures. Along the way you’ll reach the Barbagallo craters at 3,000 metres, from where you can observe the Summit Craters. The route also visits the effusive mouth of the 2002 eruption, giving a close sense of recent volcanic activity. From the effusive mouth you’ll descend across sandy slopes toward Montagnola, a viewpoint overlooking the Valle del Bove. The return to the cable car is on foot, completing the walking section of the excursion. You will sail along the coast of Taormina, departing from the port of Giardini Naxos, the first Greek colony in Sicily, and take in views across its wide bay. Along the way you will visit the Cave of Love and Isola Bella, today a UNESCO World Heritage Site with a long and fascinating history. The boat will stop for a dip in the azure waters of the Ionian Sea, where you can observe local aquatic flora and fauna. The experience includes a tasting of rotisserie dishes paired with Italian prosecco on board. If weather conditions allow, the boat will head further out to sea to look for dolphins in their natural habitat; sightings may occur but cannot be guaranteed. Dolphins live freely and their presence depends on natural factors that the organiser cannot control. On the return trip you will watch the sunset and take in views of Mount Etna as the coastline slips by.

You’ll explore the volcanic islands of Panarea and Stromboli in the UNESCO-listed Aeolian Archipelago on a day trip from Taormina. Travel is by motorboat, and the boat will carry other groups. On each island you’ll have free time to swim in crystalline waters or amble through the village streets and harbour areas, taking in the coastal scenery and island atmosphere.
