Departing from Nagoya, this one-day tour will take you to visit the mountain city of Takayama, as well as Shirakawa – a UNESCO-listed Japanese village. In Takayama, you'll have the chance to explore either the Miyagawa or Jinya-mae Morning Markets, where you'll be able to sample local delicacies like Hida beef and Takayama ramen. Once you've had lunch, you'll journey to the village of Shirakawa. Here, you'll have the opportunity to admire scenic views of thatched houses and rice fields from the Ogimachi Castle Observation Deck, as well as learn why Shirakawa is known as the 'Kingdom of Forests and Streams'.

With admission to the Sky Promenade outdoor observation deck at the Midland Square skyscraper, you can experience the skyline of Nagoya from staggering heights reaching up to 721 ft. You can explore the deck between floors 44 and 46 of the tower and take in views in every direction. And if you head up at night, you'll see the city lights sparkling all around you.

On this day trip from Nagoya, you'll visit Ghibli Park, where you'll be able to immerse yourself in the world of Studio Ghibli. Explore the town known for its waterway that runs past the eaves of the houses. Hida Takayama: a castle town from the Edo period. Enjoy local gourmet food and shopping while strolling through the old streets, including traditional Hida handicraft stores and candy stores. Shirakawago: Shirakawa-go and the Gokayama Gassho-Zukuri Villages are well known for the large number of gassho-zukuri houses, some 100 in all, that still remain and are used by the people who live there. The village has been inscribed in the Michelin Green Guide Japon and as a World Heritage Site. It is a place like the hometown of Japan where you can deeply feel the rural culture and lifestyle that is the original landscape of Japan.

The Sumo Tournament Experience in Nagoya is an experience at the famous Grand Sumo Tournament that occurs only once a year in Nagoya (July). The experience allows guests to learn about sumo traditions and culture with an English-speaking tour guide (expert in sumo wrestling) while watching one of the most exciting sports in Japan. This is a join-in group experience with about 15 - 20 guests (minimum of 15 people is required to operate this tour; if we do not have enough bookings, the tour will be canceled and the guest will receive a full refund).

With one of the most famous hiking paths in all Japan, we set foot there on our quest for traditional Japan. Magome and Tsumago are two beautifully preserved traditional villages. This value-packed Nakasendo trail day hike between Magome and Tsumago with a government-licensed and experienced multilingual tour guide is a fantastic and efficient way to explore both of the ancient post towns! It is about 8 kilometres (5 miles) long and has only gentle elevation changes which takes around 2 hours to easy walk at a leisurely pace. This private tour is a hiking day tour.
