This tour is a off beaten track and can be only guided by a local tour guide.This pilgrimage trail was developed more than 2,000 years ago by the sharman named Xi Fu who served for the first emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang.
Qin’s last strong wish was to live forever and ordered Xi Fu to find the eternal life medicine from the holy eastern mountain. There are many legends about Xi Fu throughout Japan and also in Fujiyoshida. Xi Fu recorded in the document about the history of Fujiyoshida and it said there were 7 shrines and head quarter shrine to do the ceremony of ascending to the emperor. The Japanese emperor’s title “Tennou” actually means the Northern Dragon, Hokushin, which is the deification of the Polaris and the big dipper.
Visiting and walking the pilgrimage trail on the footage of Mt.Fuji will make you connect with the ancient people’s feeling and will have the meditation effect and to understand the meaning of the Asian dragon.

The swordsmen who practiced the Tennen Rishin-ryu in Hino City formed the Shinsengumi, said to be the strongest group of swordsmen, at the end of the Edo period and were known as the Last Samurai. You can feel the history and culture of the Last samurai by experiencing swordsmanship in Hino City, the hometown of the Shinsengumi.
Masao Inoue, the chairman of the Tennen Rishin-ryu Hino Dojo and a descendant of the Shinsengumi executive Genzaburo Inoue, will lead the experience program.
