In the heart of a subtropical forest, you will reach the Tanama River via private access, well away from crowds. Following old trails said to be left by local ancestors, you will hike with huge limestone formations and thousands of springs making up the river walls. Along the way you will explore river banks and caves, and refresh yourself in the cool Tanama River water. Interpretation and storytelling are part of the experience, so you will learn local background and context as you move through the landscape. After trekking along and through the river, you will return by tubing in calm waters, drifting downstream until you reach further natural pools. The route combines gentle adventure with quiet moments in a largely hidden riverscape, offering a close look at the caves, springs and limestone scenery that define the Tanama River.

You will meet your guide at La Parguera Lajas, approximately a 2-hour drive from San Juan. From there, you will board a small boat with a captain and head out across the water toward the Bioluminescent Bay. Along the way you will enjoy the coastal views as the captain takes you to a prime location for the bioluminescent activity, where the water will glow and shimmer around the boat. This experience is presented in an intimate, family-friendly setting with small group sizes and personalised service. Expert local guides will be on hand to explain the science and local ecology, and to ensure the outing is safe, educational and relaxed—suitable for children, couples and curious explorers alike. Swimming is an optional part of the visit and is recommended, but it is not mandatory; no participant is obligated to swim if they do not feel safe to do so. Rincón is known as the town of beautiful sunsets, and aboard the Katarina you will watch that show from the sea. As the sky’s colours blend with the deep blue ocean, you’ll find a relaxed setting for photos, conversation and cocktails. The boat sails the west coast of Rincón, reaching as far north as the Rivermouth surf spot on the Rincón/Aguada border and as far south as Tres Hermanos beach in Añasco Bay. Along the way you will pass every surf spot in the Rincón area, see the lighthouse from the water and take in the mountain views from the sea. While you enjoy the scenery, there will be music, hors d’oeuvres and soft drinks, and you may choose a Piña Colada, rum punch or a local beer. The cruise returns to the mooring shortly after sunset, with guests back on land soon afterwards.

The experience begins with a muddy, slippery and rocky hike down to the river. From the top of a cave you'll set up for a 250 ft zipline that opens up dramatic views. After the zipline, you will hike upstream to a huge cave and jump into the refreshing water. As you move through the caves you'll see striking water curtains and springs. At the exit of the second cave there will be a short stop and you may choose to submerge into the water to visit a secret cave. Your guides will then show you the best options for white water tubing. While you tube, you will pass some rapids and some amazing canons all the way to the third and last cave. At the exit of that cave you'll do a small climb and then hike back to the cars. Don't let the beautiful sights fool you — this adventure is for real adventurers and nature lovers only. Please do not daydream; if you are unsure whether you qualify, you probably do not.

You will ride a Paso Fino horse along secluded beaches beside crystal-blue Caribbean waters. The gentle gait of the Paso Fino makes for a smooth ride as you take in open shoreline and coastal scenery. The tour allows you to experience Puerto Rico from horseback, giving a different view of the island’s natural coastlines. Along the way you will pass through tropical and almond forests, where you can explore native wildlife and coastal flora. As you move through these varied landscapes, the guide will point out features of the environment so you learn about the plants and animals that live there. Between December and April you may have the opportunity to watch whales from shore or coastal vantage points. The overall experience focuses on riding relaxed trails, enjoying sea views and forested backdrops, and seeing a quieter side of Puerto Rico from a Paso Fino horse.

Your experienced guides will start the experience right from the beach with a clear briefing. In this short session they will explain safety measures and the basic skills of horseback riding so you feel comfortable and confident before you get going. As you move through the next phase, your guides will help you settle in by having you do a couple of turns in the briefing area. This gentle introduction is designed to make sure you are at ease on the horse before the main ride. When everyone is ready, your guides will lead the guided horseback riding tour along the route, pointing out the most enchanting sights as you go. Along the way they will capture photos and videos for you; these are included in the package so you can keep the memories.

This trip takes you from San Juan to the coastal town of Loíza Piñones, known as the fried-fritter capital and a place for local vibes, great music, cultural dance and African Puerto Rican food. You will begin at Centro Comunal de Piñones, where you can see historic photos of Loíza, Taíno artefacts and African Puerto Rican–inspired art that tell the area’s cultural story. As you move through Piñones, you’ll walk the Roberto Clemente boardwalk / horse trail and visit local spots along the shoreline. At a nearby bar each guest will receive a welcoming shot of Puerto Rican rum and a sample of local food, and participants will also have access to special drink offers via a participation kiosk. The tour typically aims to stop at three to four locations in Piñones, including time on the boardwalk and at the beach, so bring a bathing suit and towel. Weekends can be very busy in Piñones, which may limit the number of places you visit.

You will visit three caves and several waterfalls, including time inside the Charco Azul Vega Baja and Arenales caves. Along the way, the trip includes river tubing through canyon sections, hiking on forest trails and climbing over rough terrain to reach cave entrances. Waterfalls and opportunities for cliff jumping add an adventurous element as you move through this natural landscape. The experience is moderate to challenging and is suitable for participants aged 13 to 65. There is a maximum weight limit of 260 pounds (people over this limit should contact the provider). It is not recommended for anyone who is overweight or who has had surgery that limits hiking or climbing on difficult terrain. Closed-toe shoes are required.
