They were rebranded the “Order of Christ” and, eventually, one of its Grand Masters became pivotal to the Age of Discoveries: his name was Henry the Navigator. Later on, in 1581, the Convent of Christ was the stage for the creation of the Iberian Union sealing the formation of the biggest empire in the World at the time. We will take you through the Convent of Christ and the Castle of Tomar, show you the Jewish synagogue, give you a flavor of the charming modern-day Tomar and take you to the most photo-friendly Castle of Almourol, located on a tiny island on Tagus River.

Fátima is one of the major catholic pilgrimage sites in the world. We will visit the most iconi sites of the Sanctuary of Fátima, namely the Apparitions Chapel, the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary of Fátima (where the little shepherds Lúcia, Jacinta, and Francisco were laid to rest), and the contemporary Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity. Also, we will take you to the house where the little Shepard's lived and, as an additional option, take you to the 4D Fátima Miracle Museum.

Alcobaça Monastery is a place where eternal love is celebrated, as it is the resting place of Pedro and Inês. Pedro was a prince whose lover was brutally assassinated for political reasons. When he became King, he made sure justice was served: he had the assassins killed (legend has it their hearts were taken out to make them pay for his broken heart…) and his beloved Inês was crowned Queen of Portugal… after her death. After we have collected you we proceed up cobbled roads to the start point at the Canon miradour. We then take one of the 9 km of tracks on Pico Castelo just to make sure you get to see a different side of this mountain walking along stone terraces and wood paths until we get to the picnic area at the top. We pause here to use the facilities have a drink before we go down a different path the the vereda around Pico Facho. This tend to be a flatter path with equally fantastic views, lots of water erosion has sculptured the slopes. From treed shade to open fields this walk changes around every corner. The remains of centuries old farming is still evident although people left here years ago and crops are no longer grown. Beyond our glorious beach if we are lucky Madeira will be floating on the horizon.
