This shore excursion will take you to two of the most important preserved cities of the former Roman Empire. You'll begin with a walking tour of Pompeii, with an archaeologist to guide you. You'll learn how the Romans once lived and view important buildings and private homes in the western part of the doomed city.
In Herculaneum, also buried by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius but by a mudslide, you'll see even more perfectly preserved ruins, including the second storeys of buildings, carbonised wooden objects and intact paintings and mosaics.
