History
Daisho Temple was established in 1573 in Nihonbashi Bakurocho. It was relocated to Nishi-Asakusa after being destroyed by a fire in 1657. In 1923, the temple was once again destroyed by the Great Kanto Earthquake and subsequently moved to its current location in Kita Ward, Nishigahara.
Zazen Meditation
Daisho Temple practices Soto Zen Buddhism, which emphasizes zazen (seated meditation). Zazen involves adjusting posture and breathing to achieve a state of mindfulness and inner peace, allowing practitioners to connect deeply with their own life and nature. This practice helps to detach from everyday thoughts and distractions, fostering a calm and focused mind. Our temple offers guided zazen sessions for beginners, ensuring a welcoming and educational experience. We look forward to welcoming you and sharing this serene practice with you.
