The Efteling is an amusement park and recreation complex in Kaatsheuvel, a village in the Dutch province of North Brabant.
The Efteling is the largest amusement park in the Benelux in terms of visitor numbers and surface area. It is one of the most visited theme parks in Europe and in 2020, after finishing behind the French Disneyland Paris and the German Europa-Park, in 2020, it was even the most visited theme park in Europe.
Efteling has been awarded several prizes, including the Pomme d'Or for the best leisure park in Europe (1972) and the IAAPA Applause Award for the best amusement park in the world (1992).
The park is one of the oldest theme parks in the world that is still open: the Efteling nature park opened on May 11, 1951. On May 31, 1952, the Fairytale Forest also opened.
