As a local, Manx-born registered Blue Badge guide I am passionate about my lovely Island home and love to share it with visitors.

The Isle of Man is a UNESCO Biosphere reserve and is the perfect location for a wildlife & scenic adventure. Venturing into the wilderness, you may be the only people for miles around. The Island hosts a healthy population of Hen Harriers, Choughs and Peregrine Falcons found in both cliff habitats and urban areas. Depending on the season various bird species can be seen including Gannets, Curlew, Skylark, and Tern colonies, along with marine wildlife like Atlantic Seals.. We will explore some of our protected and rare habitats such as the Ayres National Nature Reserve with its distinctive landscape of shingle, sand dunes and beautiful lichen heath where a number of Orchids grow. Discover the Isle of Man on a relaxed, small-group sightseeing tour led by a local driver-guide. Travel in a comfortable minibus to explore the island’s most scenic locations—from the Great Laxey Wheel and Tynwald Hill to Peel Castle and Niarbyl Bay. This is currently the only walking tour of Peel being advertised. It is a fun tour of a beautiful place with historic beauty and fascinating social history. You will be able to imagine life in a thriving fishing village with a close community of hard-working and lively people. Your guide will introduce you to its folklore, its very long history and its present day culture. She will show you the many eating places, pubs and visitor attractions you can take in on your way around the town.
The tour is lead by John Shakespeare who is a Viking re enactor and story teller - he also worked on the Peel Castle archaeological excavations. John is an Isle of Man Government Registered Driver Guide. The price covers up to four persons.

Setting off from Douglas we head north to Laxey and visit the famous Lady Isabella Water Wheel - onto King Orrys Grave for our first taste of one of the Islands Neolithic sites. Then to Maughold Church - Ramsey - St Johns and Tynwald Hill. Peel with its Castle and House of Mannanan museum. Niarbyl then over the mountain of South Barrule down to the Calf Sound - Cregneash folk village - Castle Rushen and return to Douglas over the Fairy Bridge
