Guided tour available in English or Italian.
The tour is divided into two parts.
The first part is dedicated to a guided visit of the Salt Museum and the ancient windmill dating back to the 1400s. During the visit, the traditional phases of salt production are explained, along with the history of the family that has managed the salt pans for generations.
The museum is located בתוך an old Sicilian baglio (courtyard estate) and is included in the official European Union guide. It represents a historical testimony of the connection between salt production and the sea.
The second part of the tour includes a walk along the perimeter of the salt pans, following the edges of the salt basins. Along the way, visitors can admire the colors of the landscape shaped by salt, seawater, clay, and light reflections.
The tour takes place within a WWF Nature Reserve and is suitable for all age groups. Participants can observe how salt forms in the basins and follow the different stages that transform seawater into salt.
The visit lasts approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes and generally takes place between 9:00 AM and 7:00 PM, depending on availability.
