At Detroit City Distillery, the Blend Your Own Bourbon Tour will put you in the role of lead blender for a Detroit-made bourbon. The experience will begin with a brief history of bourbon and the distillery’s place in that story. As you move through the distillery, you will follow the distilling process from raw grains straight from the farm to the moment the white dog meets the barrel.
Along the way, a whiskey expert will guide a tasting session where you will learn how to identify tasting notes and the proper way to sample from barrels. After you gain confidence with the flavours, you will work with four distinct barrels chosen for blending. You will craft your own recipe and be shown how to operate the blending equipment to produce a single, personalised bottle. The session will result in a one-of-a-kind bourbon created by you.
