Moving towards the town's literary history, you'll visit Louisa May Alcott's Orchard House, the setting for the famous novel Little Women, and, if you visit at the weekend, you'll go to the Old Manse, which has connections to writers Ralph Waldo Emerson, Nathaniel Hawthorne and Henry David Thoreau.
